“Um, you want me to come up with an alternative option to get your phone ba—”

“No! Will you do the stupid dance thing with my dad? If I find a replacement then I can still get my phone back.”

Ava wasn’t sure it worked that way.

Blake looked up at her with the biggest puppy dog eyes she’d ever seen. If puppy dog eyes were an Olympic sport, then Blake would easily be winning the gold medal.

“Please, please, please,” she begged.

“Um, I mean, I guess if he—”

“Thank you!” Blake shouted and threw her arms around Ava’s neck, pulling her down. She didn’t let go, instead she tightened her grip. “Thank you so much! You are the best!”

“Blake?”

Ava heard a deep voice sound behind her and all the hair on her bare arms stood up tall. She straightened, turned, and saw the man who she’d had more fantasies about than she could count. But none of them had showcased him with the fierce look of paternal protection in his milk chocolate eyes.

He looked ready to kill someone, and Ava was sure that he’d do that if it meant protecting Blake.

The sight caused her ovaries to clock in, ready to work. If it was possible to get pregnant from looking at someone and wanting to have their babies, then Ava was sure she’d be knocked up right now.

“Daddy!” Blake shouted when she saw him.

Ava and Noah both moved away from the bed, giving the father and daughter room.

“What happened?” Asher asked as he moved next to Blake staring down at her foot.

“I was going over the wall and when I dropped down, I landed on my foot wrong. It hurt so bad! But Noah saved me. He picked me up and carried me to where the nurse could look at me. And I made him ride in the ambulance with me because I was scared.”

Ava couldn’t see Asher’s face but by the tension in his shoulders, he didn’t seem too happy about Noah being Blake’s knight in shining armor.

Blake sat up straighter in bed. “The doctor said that I might need surgery or maybe not but either way I’m going to be on crutches for probably eight weeks. But don’t worry, I asked Ava if she’d do the dance thingy with you and she said yes.”

That’s not exactly how it had gone, but Ava felt like Blake had been through enough without her pointing that out.

“Isn’t that great?!”

Asher looked over at Ava and she could see that he did not seem any happier about that news than he had hearing how Noah had saved his daughter. He was not a happy camper.

Not happy at all.

Ava was sure that he was going to decline the offer, but instead he said a simple, “Thank you.”

After an awkward goodbye, it was decided that Ava would give Noah a ride back to the resort. When she got back, Amanda asked her to fill out a report. As she sat in her office Ava was trying to detail everything she could remember that the nurse had told her, but all she could think about was that in less than a week’s time, there was a chance that she’d be spending eight hours in Asher’s way-too-sexy arms.

And most importantly, what was she going to wear?
