CHAPTER FOUR

Pullinginto the parking garage of my place, I can see the nerves that dissipated in Juliet seem to work their way back into her body.

I rest my hand on her knee as it bobs and pull into my spot before shutting the car off. "Everything is okay."

She sucks in a deep breath. "I don't know… The serial killer thoughts are back now."

I shake my head with a laugh and step out of the car. Circling, I open her door. "If I was a serial killer, don't you think I would have killed you by now?"

She takes the hand I extend to her and slides out of the car. "I don't know. Maybe you're a real sadist and want to ring every orgasm out of me you can before you off me."

I shrug and pull her toward the elevator with me. "I guess time will tell."

Stepping inside the lift, she squeals. "Reed! You're supposed to ease my mind, not make me think even more."

I press the penthouse button as the doors close, then spin her and press her back to the wall. Pushing my body into hers, I slide my hands up her body and cup her face. "You won't be doing much thinking soon enough." I run my nose along hers, then anchor my lips to hers.

We only get a moment to get lost in the kiss before the elevator dings and the metal doors slide open to my foyer.

"Come on," I say, releasing her mouth and standing up straight. "I'll show you my place before we eat."

As soon as we step out, she pauses and looks around. Her green dress stands out against the white marble floor and white walls. "Everything is… shiny."

"Shiny?" I smile.

She nods and peers down. "I can seriously see my reflection on the floor."

"I never noticed."

She raises a brow in my direction. "Never noticed? That's such a rich person thing to say."

I laugh. "I just mean I'm used to it. I never thought to look down."

She squints her eyes with a smirk. "Mhm."

"Come on," I laugh again and pull her behind me.

Right past the foyer is the living room. It's pretty basic with all leather furniture and a wall of windows overlooking the city behind it. The staircase is nestled against the wall closest to us. Starting up the steps, I tug Juliet with me.

Every couple of steps I take, I look back and see how she admires everything. I stop and let her take in the surroundings when we make it to the landing. A chrome banister runs the length of the hallway from the landing to my room on one side, and on the other is nothing but glass.

I bought this place because it felt cozy. It isn't huge, but it's more than enough room to live in, and the view is impressive. The entire backside of my penthouse is essentially one giant window. From here, you can see everything. All the lights from below twinkle, and the sound of everyday inner-city living is nonexistent.

"Wow," she breathes, looking out the glass wall in front of us. "This is beautiful."

Stepping behind her, I pull her hair behind her shoulder. "Not as beautiful as you."

She lets her head fall back and rest on my shoulder. "Dinner will get cold if you keep talking like that."

I kiss her neck quickly and pull away. "You're right. I just wanted to show you where the bathroom was."

Grabbing her hand, I lead her further down the hall and into my room. Flipping on the switch by the door, light pours into the room. "There," I point to the threshold of the bathroom.

"You only have one bathroom in this big place?"

"No. There is another downstairs off the kitchen."

"And you couldn't show me that one, why?" She smiles.
