Page 63 of Two Pilots for Her

The door to the cockpit slides open with a woosh. It’s Hazel.

Her face is almost as distraught as it was the other day.

“A passenger…” she sputters.

Her breathing is hard.

“H-he wasn’t wearing his seat belt. He’s seriously injured back here. We need to get him to a hospital- now.”

I’m on the radio faster than lightning. I need to find a landing strip as soon as I possibly can.

“We’ve got an ambulance waiting for us in Naples, we’ll be there soon.”

Something about the situation seems to have drawn Dylan and I together again. As we land, the frostiness between us has disappeared.

The sky is dark and the lights of the airway twinkle. The Italian ambulances flash as we approach.
