  “Axel, may I be frank?”
 
 Lifting my head, I stared at the phone, expecting the worst. “Yes?”
 
 “Is there something wrong with her?”
 
 I frowned, “what do you mean?”
 
 “Does she have some sort of mental condition?”
 
 I began shaking. “No, no she’s not supposed to, why? What’s wrong with her?”
 
 The Alpha went silent for a moment.
 
 “Alpha, is she okay?” I didn’t know what ‘okay’ would entail considering what had happened, but I had to ask.
 
 “She’s alive,” he said, “responding, talking.”
 
 “I-uh,” I didn’t know how to ask, what to ask.
 
 “I’ll look after her while you travel here, it should be about a two day’s drive, maybe more considering the weather and flooded roads.”
 
 “Thank you, Alpha.”
