He pauses, narrowing his eyes. “Mate, I don’t wanna speak out of turn …”
“When has that ever stopped you before?”
He chuckles, nodding. “Fair play. But it’s starting to look like this situation with Grace might be more than just revenge, eh?”
I feel my smile contort into a stern line. “Fat chance, mate,” I snap. “This is all just a big game.”
He shrugs, heading for the door. “If that’s how you wanna play it, boss, fair enough. But I don’t think it’s the worst thing in the world if you actually feel something for this girl.”
The door closes behind him and I grab the edge of the desk, pushing so that I slide backward on the wheels of the chair. I spring to my feet and pace over to the dumbbells, throwing them up in shoulder-presses that cause my body to boil soothingly.
Nick’s dead wrong. Itwouldbe bad if I let this get out of hand … if I haven’t already.
