“What?” he sputtered.

“I was clear.”

I shouldered open the driver’s door and went around to collect our bags from the trunk. Kevin climbed the steps to the front door, keyed a code into a lock box, and unlocked the door. It swung behind him as he disappeared inside and I paused on the porch, taking a breath to steady myself.

One of the things I most admired about Kevin was the way he worked through things on his own. I often wished he would come to me and share, but the manner that he kept things to himself until he was able to make sense of them had always inspired me. When I tried to keep things to myself, I only got cranky and irritable, but not him. It was like every struggle he worked himself through made him better and stronger. I’d watched him work his way through the evolution of his desires, using me to test theories as they came to him, culminating in his admission back at the house.

I want to be a better su…

He didn’t need to finish it because we both knew what he meant. He’d stopped pushing those submissive tendencies out of the way and realized that there was more to him than being only a masochist. Even if it hadn’t been there before, he’d developed the interest in submission and what that meant to him, what it could mean to us. In turn, my tastes had changed as well.

I’d never wanted something fulltime. I’d never wanted something serious in the way this shift in our relationship would take us. But I loved Kevin and I loved the things we did. I wanted more. I wanted everything. And so, together, we took risks and made changes.

I closed the door to the cabin behind me and locked it—just to be safe—and gave a quick scan around the space to see what I had to work with. The living room area was big enough with a leather couch that faced a stone fireplace. To the side was a small kitchenette with a round table and four chairs. The floors were all wood, and a runner led down a dark hallway toward what I had to assume were the bedroom and bathroom.

I checked the first door, finding a surprisingly modern bathroom with a steam shower, stone floors, and soaking tub beneath a huge window that overlooked the mountains. I closed the door behind me and headed toward the end of the hall, toward the light filtering out of the room there.

Kevin was naked, his clothes folded on top of the basic maple dresser. There was a carved four poster bed that looked like it had been made from rough cuts of the trees outside the cabin, with a patchwork quilt spread across the mattress. I grabbed one of the posts and gave it a shake, pleased to find the bed was sturdy. There was a bay window against the far wall, a small couch tucked into the nook there with a round side table and a reading lamp.

The whole place was kitsch and adorable, completely opposite of the condo. Completely opposite of us. It was exactly what I needed to give Kevin the reset he needed.

Thatweneeded.

Kevin stood in the bay window nook, his bare back and ass on display. His arms hung at his sides and he stared out the window to the trees. Kevin was relaxed and at ease. He was open to me, and he was ready.

The question, though, was I?

He glanced over his shoulder at me, glasses off and eyes dark with want, and I knew I was.

Our suitcases were on the bed, already unzipped. I rifled around in the bag I’d packed, searching for the things I thought I would need. Mitts and cuffs, a blindfold, a new gag.

“If you want me to stop, say stop,” I told him, shoving the bags onto the floor. “If you can’t speak, shake your fist.”

While we always said we didn’t have safewords, we always went with stop. If Kevin’s hands were tied, he snapped, but in this instance, I was going to obscure his fingers and wasn’t sure if I would hear the snap.

“Yes, Ronan,” he rasped, his back still to me.

“Get on the bed, spread-eagle.”

Kevin turned, giving me a passing glance of this thickening dick as he climbed onto the bed and arranged himself how I’d asked. He tried to look at the toys I’d picked, but they were all jumbled in a tangle of black leather and rubber, and I knew he didn’t get the answers he wanted. He spread himself out and I picked up the blindfold and sat beside him near the pillows.

“Are you scared?” I asked, situating the material around his head and adjusting it over his eyes. Once the blindfold was in place, I leaned in and kissed him, slow and steady until he started to kiss me back. I pulled away and Kevin groaned, lowering his head back down to the pillow.

“No, Ronan,” he answered, licking my taste off his lips.

“Interesting.”

“Should I be?” he asked.

I stretched down the bed for the mitts. We hadn’t used them before, simple leather pouches designed to invalidate the use of his hands completely. That way, I didn’t have to tie him to the bed. He wouldn’t be able to grab me without use of his fingers. I slipped the mitt over his hand and closed the cuff around his wrist, repeating it on his other hand before dropping them both back to the bed.

“Pretend you’re fully restrained, Kevin.” I said softly, moving down to cuff his ankles to the posters at the foot of the bed. “Stretch those arms toward the posts and show me what a good and obedient boy you can be.”

Kevin whimpered and stretched his mitts toward the corners of the bed. I picked up the gag, a new toy I’d acquired, and fit the three inch inflatable cock piece into his mouth. Kevin made a surprised noise, and I clasped the gag closed behind his head. A thick leather plate sealed over his mouth, wrapping the curvature of his jaw from his chin to his nose. I watched the way his shoulders tensed when he took his first breath.

“Hard to breathe?” I asked.

He puffed air out of his nostrils and stretched his arms wider.
