But she didn’t care. For the first time in her life, the thought of possibly being pregnant did not send her in a panic as it should have.
For the first time in longer than she could remember, she felt relaxed and unable to worry about anything. All she wanted to do was take Enrico home and cuddle with him until the holiday season ended like she was doing now as he lay bent over her on the table, his cock still thick inside her.
Too bad that couldn’t happen.Hope and Joy would expect her to be alone and asleep in her bed when they woke up two minutes after dawn cracked. There were also chores to do and meals to cook while watching over the girls and keeping Lilly calm and happy and resting in bed until the baby was born.
When she could breathe again without gasping for breath, Celyn whispered, “I need to go home.”
“And I have to get back to work,” Enrico said as he nuzzled against her collarbone, sending tingles through her.
He eased from her slowly, both of them sighing as they separated into two beings.Stepping away for a moment, he used his shorts to clean them both up.Lifting her from the table, he helped her stand on wobbly legs. She tried to pull on her clothes, but her brain and body still weren’t speaking the same language.
She’d managed to pull on her panties by the time he was completely redressed and turned to help her.She was still a little discombobulated by the time he had her fully dressed and was kneeling before her tying her sneakers.
Slipping her purse over her shoulder, he wrapped an arm around her and guided her toward the back door.
At the back door, she reactivated the video cameras and then the alarm before they left. She pointed at her car, one of only three left in the big parking lot and together they ambled toward it.
Once at the driver’s door, Celyn turned to the man who had tilted her world off its axis while making her feel better than anyone ever had in her life. From his serious expression, she could tell he was leaving her life.
For a split second, she wished she could go with him but that wasn’t possible until Cedar returned.
Chapter Eight
“Ihave to go,” Enricosaid, the pressure in his head to return to the North Pole growing to nearly painful levels.“While I’m gone, I want you to stop worrying about Cedar and Lilly and the girls.Everything is going to work itself out.You just have to trust that everything will be fine.”
Celyn looked at him with sad resignation.“How will it work out? When will I see you again? How can it be fine if you’re not with me?”
Enrico’s heart hurt even as he smiled at her and pulled her to his chest for another long, strong hug.“Oh, sweet Celyn, of course you’ll see me again. This is just the beginning for us.And I promise, everything will work out for you and for Cedar and his family.Believe in the magic of Christmas.”
“But when? When will it work out?”
“By Christmas, of course,” he said.
With one last kiss, he helped her climb into her car.“Go home, get some sleep, and stop worrying.”
Once she had driven out of sight, Enrico whistled loud and long.A few minutes later, Virgil trotted into sight from around the back of the diner.
