I swallow hard and nod. “Yes.”

He places his hand in mine and tugs me over to him. Before he steps outside the door, he looks me over. “You look thoroughly fucked,” he says proudly.

After hours of drinking and dancing, I’m feeling beyond tipsy. I wash my hands after going to the bathroom and look at myself in the mirror. I smile. I love spending time with my family and the MC.

As I’m walking out, I see my father has made an appearance. He’s talking to Bomber and Viper. Their bodies are stiff while Dad’s talking to them. I rush over when Dad points a finger at Viper.

When Viper’s eyes meet mine, he forces a smile. My eyes dart between the three of them. “What’s going on?”

“Nothing,” Dad answers, though Bomber’s jaw is ticking.

Viper casually puts his arm around my shoulders. “Are you ready to go soon?”

Noticing the awkward tension, I reply, “Sure…”

“Where’s Zara?” I ask Bomber.

He tips his head to the right where she’s talking to Lawson. I look between Viper and Bomber. “Are we staying the night here?”

“No. I’m good to drive,” Bomber answers, an edge to his voice.

“You’ve been drinking,” Dad says disapprovingly. “The chauffeur can take you.”

Bomber’s glare is hostile. Something has just gone down, and I want to know what it was. I have a feeling Dad started it. “I’ve had one beer,” Bomber answers.

Dad looks at me. “You should stay with your family.”

Viper curses under his breath.

“Zara,” Bomber calls out. “We’re going.”

My eyes peer between them warily. “What’s happened?”

Dad fiddles with his tie. “It was business.”

I peek under my lashes at Viper. “Let’s get going, wifey.”

I shuffle my weight between my feet. “I’m going back to the clubhouse. Dad, I’ll come and see you again soon.”

I hastily say bye, not wanting to cause a scene. I find my brothers and say goodbye before I walk to the parking lot, head bowed. I just wanted a good night with everyone.

QUITE THE DILEMMA

Viper

The ride home was silent, but I could sense the tension in the air. Neither me nor Bomber was going to say anything to the women, but they could sense that something wasn’t right. We ended up having an early night, but there was distance between me and Sophie because I wouldn’t tell her what’s wrong.

After we wake up, Sophie’s still drilling me about it. “There’s nothing you need to worry about,” I say reassuringly. I follow it up with one of my charming smiles. She’s smart. She picked up on the vibes between us and her father. “I’m going to church. I’ll be back soon.”

She purses those sexy, full lips. She’s frustrated with me and gives me a look that implies we will talk about this later. She’s been here for nearly a week. It’s gone so fast. I frown at the thought that I have only three more weeks with her.

I go downstairs, allowing her to work on her laptop. Bomber is waiting for me. “Are you ready?” I ask him. My heart pumps harder. This is my fault.I’m the one causing issues with the club because I can’t let Sophie go.

“Yes, we have to keep everyone up to date with what’s happening,” he answers.

“Reaper,” I call out when I see him talking to Ava in the dining area. He looks up at me. “Can we talk at church? It’s important.”
