Fuuuck.

I definitely should not be thinking about how it would feel to have those lips wrapped around my cock, but everything about this woman makes me hard. I crave her in a way I’ve never craved a woman before.

So, yeah. We’re sitting in a smoothie bar wearing the same sweaty clothes we wore to work out, and it’s erotic as hell.

Piper’s blue eyes find mine across the table and when her pupils blow wide, I’m certain she knowsexactlywhat I’m thinking.

The tension between us grows palpable and the urge to kiss her, to feel her soft lips against mine, is nearly overwhelming.

Jenna clears her throat, shattering the moment.

Piper slowly lowers her cup to the table, and when she speaks, her voice is unsteady. “The chicks are adorable. Do you keep pictures of all the farm animals on your phone?”

“Of course. I can’t be seen playing favorites.”

“So you admit you have favorites?”

Hell yeah, I do. Some of those chickens are vicious little fuckers when they’re hungry. Or tired. Or you look at them the wrong way.

“I plead the fifth.”

She makes atskingnoise and shakes her head slowly. “I didn’t peg you for the sort of person who takes the easy way out, Brady.”

Fuck me.

The way she says my name sends blood rushing straight to my cock.

“I like to choose my battles.”

She quirks a brow. “Are we at war?”

“I should hope not.” I lean forward, shoving my smoothie aside. It’s now or never. “I’m still hoping to take you on a proper date.”

Her smile evaporates and it’s a kick to the balls. “I told you; I don’t have time to date.”

“Make time.”

I want to respect her boundaries, and I’m not the kind of guy who can’t take no for an answer, but…she counted the weeks.

That has to mean something.

“For what it’s worth,” Jenna says, sliding my phone across the table. “I definitely think you two should go on a date. Your chemistry is…” She makes a show of fanning herself and turns to Piper. “Besides, do you have any idea what a scarcity of decent guys there is on campus? As someone who’s dated her share of pricks, I can assure you most of them are only interested in sex, sports, and themselves.” She glances my way. “One for three is practically a unicorn.”

It's not exactly a glowing endorsement, but I’m in no position to argue, so I focus on Piper.

“What do you say, Piper? Are you ready to give me a shot?”

“No.” She climbs to her feet, the corner of her mouth twitching, and Jenna follows her lead. “I won’t change my mind, so maybe you should try to find someone who’s actually interested in dating.”

It isn’t the reply I was hoping for, but it’s not unexpected. Piper is going to make me work for it, but if there’s one thing I’m not afraid of, it’s hard work.

Jenna sighs. “Will we see you in class next week?”

Damn, right.

“I’ll be there next Sunday,” I promise, holding Piper’s stare. “And I’ll keep coming back until you give me a fair shot.”
