“What about Wesley?” the Aryan pinning me asked.

“He said he’d hold them off so we can get away,” Buck said and only a fool wouldn’t have been able to tell that he was lying. His eyes dropped to me. “Drug her and tie her up.”

Amelia, sitting in the front seat, stared at me worriedly as she clutched her baby. Buck held his hands out to her. “Let me see him.”

She hesitated.

“Let me see him!” Buck roared, making her wince, and she handed over the baby.

The Aryan pinning me put a cloth over my nose and mouth. I held my breath and tried to thrash, wiggle, do anything that would get my face free. He pushed his knee harder into my back, making me groan, and I mistakenly inhaled.

My eyes became very heavy.

He was the last thought I had before everything faded away.
