She didn’t pull back and didn’t stop. It went on for longer than he could count.

He couldn’t think of his name let alone what number came after one.

Was it possible he was still coming at this point?

He might taste blood with how hard he was biting his tongue not to shout out.

Then the blanket moved and she was looking into his eyes.

“If you weren’t sitting right now I’d think you’d be ready to drop.”

“You’re finding humor in this, aren’t you?”

“Not humor,” she said. “You tasted me. I had to taste you. Got to keep it fair.”

“That was hardly fair. I’m not sure I can feel anything right now. Every sensation of my body escaped moments ago.”

She grinned and kissed his lips. “I think no one has ever let you just free yourself like that.”

He shook his head. No one ever had. Not like that.

It wasn’t just sex to her and he wasn’t sure why he thought it might be.

He was letting his mother get in his head about things when he never had before.

What he had with Alana was greater than he’d ever experienced with another woman on not just a physical, but an emotional level.

“Something tells me the same could be said about you,” he said, his hand brushing her hair from her face.

“No,” she whispered. “Not until you. I wanted you to feel what I did last Saturday. I hope you did.”

He kissed her again. Softer this time. Gentler.

His heart was racing and it had nothing to do with sex and everything to do with being lost in love.

He pushed her head against his chest, hoping and praying she could feel what he was.

It wasn’t just Becca he worried about getting hurt, but himself, keeping his lips sealed.

“Mom, Dad, Kirk, this is Brennan and Becca Austin. Brennan, my mother, Cindy, and father, Darin. My brother, Kirk, obviously.”

“Nice to meet you,” he said, moving forward, his hand out to shake. Becca was in his arms and wiggling to get down.

Alana reached for his daughter instead, and he could drop her bag of toys on the floor. He’d need to keep her entertained or she’d get bored easily.

“We’re glad to meet you,” Darin said. “Alana has told us a little about you.”

Like why he was a single father. She’d already warned him that her parents knew little more than what he’d first told Alana.

Rene’s job didn’t make her a great fit to have custody. Nothing more.

At least he didn’t think it was more and he’d have to trust that she didn’t share with her parents what a fool he’d been to his whoring ex’s ways.

“The same here,” he said.
