“Well, you sort of are, aren’t you?” Gael shrugged.
“I owe Seth,” August said. “But even on top of that, I’m glad to help. You guys deserve this.”
“And Seth deserves to get that diploma,” Julian said, finally speaking up. The look he gave Seth was so fond, so full of pride. I’d rarely seen Julian that expressive, except with my sister.
Seth’s eyes had turned glossy and shiny.
“Thanks guys,” he said. “Thank you for understanding.”
“You better ace that test, you hear me?” Cerise told him. “I don’t want to hear about you fucking around. You study your ass off.”
“Don’t worry,” he said with a smile. “I’ve got a great tutor.”
