He snuck out on me this morning, which meant he either regretted last night or he didn’t know how to process it. I feared the former, hoped for the latter. He whispered sweet and dirty things against my skin all night. His playfulness surprised me. The roughintensity made me shiver. I loved every side he showed me and couldn’t wait to learn more. I dug through my bags from yesterday and found the little white box with the red bow around it. I read the little red hanging tag.

I had bought it for him a long time ago when I was in London over the summer. Before my birthday and before we stopped talking, I had bought it for his birthday in September, but it didn’t seem appropriate considering I couldn’t look at him without thinking of him and Jessica.

I tucked the box in my jacket pocket. I grabbed my phone off the charger and put it in my shirt pocket. Zipped up, I donned my hat and gloves and headed out the door to get answers.

Caden owed me at least that much.
