Being careful to keep his wrist hovering above her inner thigh, he waited until she drained the formula before immediately dropping his mark against her skin.

Rylee moaned loud enough to alert the entire side of the mountain. Good thing Gavin had insulated his entire house to keep Molly from hearing every single noise. His plan protected Molly from being bombarded with too many sounds, but it also kept her from hearing every mated couple in the area fucking.

The bottle fell to the floor as Hayes lurched to standing. It was hard to hold on to his mate the way she was squirming in his arms, but he made it to their bed, lowered her onto her back, and dropped his mouth to her pussy in record time.

She grabbed his shoulders and gripped him with her blunt nails as he devoured her. At times like this when he couldn’t get enough of her scent, he wondered how much more powerful his smell was to her.

Rylee cried out as her first orgasm hit her, and he had to hold her thighs firmly to keep her from bucking right off the mattress. For such a little thing, she could really squirm when she was horny.

As the waves of her release slowed, Hayes didn’t let up. He thrust his tongue into her, wanting to draw another orgasm from her body before he gave her his cock. It didn’t take long.

While she was in the throes of her second orgasm, he yanked his shorts off, lined up with her pussy, and thrust into her. Fuck, she was perfection. Every inch of her.

Hours later, Hayes was yanked out of a deep sleep when two things happened at once. His mate sat bolt upright in bed, and his phone rang on the nightstand.

He instinctively knew in a heartbeat that the two events were related even though he was confident Rylee awoke before his cell buzzed. All senses on alert, he pulled her into his side as he glanced at the caller ID and tapped the screen, putting Felix on speaker.

“Felix, what’s going on?”

“Khloe had a vision. She says there’s a large animal stalking your house.”

Hayes frowned. “Bear or wolf?”

“Neither. She’s confused.”

Rylee tipped her head back and inhaled deeply. “Cat.”

Hayes frowned. “Cat?”

She closed her eyes, continuing to draw in breaths. “Not a kitten, dork. Something big.”

Did she just call me a dork?He would have laughed if the situation weren’t serious.

Felix spoke again. “Khloe agrees. Lion, tiger, leopard? I just shot a text to Gavin. He’ll see if Molly can hear anything.”

Hayes kissed his mate before sliding to the floor to grab a T-shirt. He personally had on shorts because he always slept ready for any eventuality, but Rylee was naked. She didn’t seem to notice as he pulled one of his shirts over her head and helped get her arms through the sleeves. He snagged a pair of jeans for himself next.

She rose onto her knees, still breathing deeply. “Bears…” she murmured. She pointed toward the window and shook her finger.

Hayes wasn’t inclined to open a window with so much uncertainty lurking. He’d rather wait for backup. But he did need clarification. “Bears instead of cats?”

She shook her head. “No, the cat is close, circling the house. The bears are coming.”

Felix groaned. “Khloe confirms that, too.”

Hayes shot off a text to Isaac and another unmated Alpha Protector, Jayce. The two of them wouldn’t be leaving anyone unattended to come in the middle of the night.

“Khloe, no,” Felix growled. He was apparently speaking to his mate.

Hayes imagined she’d just suffered not one but two debilitating visions back-to-back. He knew how much her episodes unnerved Felix. Any Alpha would feel the same if their mate went into a trance every time they had a vision.

“Fuck,” Felix muttered. “Heading your way.”

“You sure?” Hayes asked as he pulled Rylee off the bed and into his arms, settling her on his hip. He needed her close.

“No. I hate the idea,” he grumbled, “but there’s a very large wolf in my face. I don’t argue with my mate over matters like this. We’ll be there soon.”

As soon as Felix ended the connection, the phone rang again. It was Gavin this time. He skipped the formalities and started speaking the moment Hayes answered. “You have a visitor.”
