“Who could forget you?”

The next morning, I woke up with a smile on my face. I’d heard of people doing that, but until today, I hadn’t believed it was possible. I rolled onto my back and turned to find Declan sleeping next to me. Last night hadn’t been a dream. I glanced at my hand, and the engagement ring caught a few rays of sunlight in its prism.

“Good morning.” His raspy baritone filled every space in my empty apartment and in my soul.

“Good morning.” I beamed at him and curled up next to him. His warm body felt so familiar and comforting. “What happens now?”

Yeah, Declan had come up with a fairly elaborate plan to make sure Harper and Joey were taken care of so we could be together. But he hadn’t exactly said how we were going to get to the next part where we actually got to live together.

“Are we really gettingmarried?” I asked.

“If you haven’t changed your mind, I’d like to marry you as soon as possible.”

“I just signed a lease for this place. For a whole year.”

“I know. I should’ve spanked you for that, too.” A glint of desire shone in his blue eyes.

“I’m serious.”

“I’m quite serious as well.” A half-smile pulled at his lips. “I’m buying you out of the lease. Which reminds me. We have an appointment—” he glanced at his watch, “—at a quarter past noon.”

“Where are we going?”

“You’ll see. Get dressed.”

I hopped out of bed and sauntered toward my tiny bathroom. Behind me, Declan groaned, mumbling something about wanting more time with my ass. The spot between my legs got wet at his words, but I kept walking. If I turned around to entertain his words, we’d never make it to our meeting.

The warm spray cooled my desire to a manageable level. Though my heart still felt like it was about to burst out of my chest. I couldn’t believe how much things had changed for me overnight. When Louisa left me here yesterday to unpack, I was sure I was looking at weeks of moping around the place while I slowly put my life back together. Instead, I was bouncing with excitement because Declan had an appointment for us.

“If you don’t wrap up that shower soon, I will join you.” He rapped on the door.

“So bossy.” I shut off the water. As I toweled off and brushed my teeth, I let a few images of a very naked and very wet Declan flash throughmy mind. I had to add shower sex to the list of things we needed to make up for. “Can you help me find my suitcase?”

“Got it.” He gestured toward the bed while his gaze roamed my towel clad body. “Found it in the kitchen.”

“Thanks.” My skin heated every time he looked at me like that, like I was the most beautiful woman in the world. “Can you tell me where we’re going? What should I wear?”

“Anything you want.” He went in the bathroom to wash up. “I’m using your toothbrush.” He called from the other side of the door.

“Okay.”

Smiling, I rummaged through my clothes and picked out a sundress with a smocked top so I wouldn’t have to wear a bra. When Declan stepped out, my pulse quickened. His plump lips, puffy eyes, and disheveled wet hair added to his overall crazy-hot morning look. Jeez, the man was gorgeous.

“I’m ready.” My cheeks flushed.

“You look gorgeous.” He reached for my waist and planted a kiss on my mouth. “Let’s go before I decide to listen to my cock.”

Outside my building, Tommy waited in the SUV. He nodded and offered me a happy smile as he hopped out to open the backseat door for us. “It’s so good to see you again.”

“Same here.”

“Tommy’s been putting up with my grumpy ass.”

“That, I have.” He shook his head and buckled up. “Where to?”

“Home.” Declan wrapped his arm around my shoulder. “Harper wants to see you. Then we’ll head over to our appointment.”

“Okay.”
