“It must be right?” Sal says. “If it was good news, he’d say.”
“I know he’s still waiting for some results, so maybe he doesn’t want to say anything until he has the full picture,” Temp tells us, opening the car door.
We all get out and I lock the car.
“All we can do is remind him he’s our brother and we’re here for him,” I say.
“We can do that,” Sal says. “I need to get to the shop and turn stuff on, see you both later.”
We watch Sal rush off to Shattered Glass, he waves as he walks through the door and closes it.
“I need to get going as well, maybe chat with Molly when you see her later.”
I nod. “Yeah, I will. But I know what she’ll say.”
“The brain is a complex thing, something that magic can’t fix,” Temp repeats.
“It just sucks,” I huff out.
“Hopefully Molly will find something in one of Constance’s books.”
I look at Temp.
“What horrifying thought have you just had?” he asks.
“What if I can get a message to Constance and see if she could write something in the book to help,” I reply.
“Wait and see if Molly finds something first.”
“But...” I start to say.
“Look if Molly doesn’t find anything, I will totally help you contact Constance, but a few more days of waiting can’t hurt,” he says touching my arm.
“Okay, we’ll wait, but I won’t wait forever. Sion needs to be healthy and to get together with Cass.”
Temp laughs. “Agreed, now I’ve got to run before I’m late.”
“Have a good day,” I say.
“And you,” Temp replies.
Temp goes one way and I cross the road and walk to the bookshop, just as Clarence and Callum arrive.
“Sorry, I was chatting,” I tell them as I unlock the shop door.
“Chatting is always good,” Clarence says, walking in.
“It is,” I agree. I look at Callum. “Did you try more cake designs?”
Cal shakes his head. “No, but I will tomorrow. Clarence and I are going to the farm tonight. I can’t believe it finishes today.”
“I know, but tonight should be fun,” I say. “Oh, before I forget, have you seen this cake designer?” I grab my phone andpull up the link. This cake artist is incredible and tips towards the macabre. I hand my phone to Cal.
“Oh, these cakes are amazing. I did wonder about going down the macabre, creepy route as well as normal decorations. Can you send me this link?”
“I can indeed,” I say as he hands my phone back and I send the link. “Done.”
“Thanks. I’ll bring you a latte in a bit.”
