A while ago when Justice’s biological family started messing with us, they used a demon and the original Witchfinder General to put a spell on Justice and pull him back to the dark side of magic.

While he was recovering, we threw every protection spell we could make up and find in books or on the internet at him. I’m pretty sure he is now completely indestructible, the same as Alfred, who had been in wolf form lying next to Justice, his wolf head resting on Justice and making the protection go into him as well.

We’re not sure if Justice’s magic pushed the protection into Alfred or if we made it settle inside him as well. But whatever way it happened it stopped Alfred from being burned at the stake, which we were all more than thankful for.

“So, ready to play with magic?” Nix asks, grinning at us.

“You mean like this?” Justice says and throws his hand out.

Most of the floor falls away and in its place are stepping stones with lava flowing around them.

“Sweet,” Temp says, grinning. He looks at one of the witches. “Sally, shall we play stepping stones?”

Sally laughs. “I think I’ll let you guys handle this one first.”

“Party pooper,” Cassie says. “Come on Temp, we’ve got this,” and with that, he jumps on the first stepping stone.

As soon as he steps on it lava shoots up, blocking the next one. The same happens when Temp steps on the stone closest to him.

“Use your magic,” Sal tells them.

“You really think the dark witches or demons are gonna make a lava flow?” Cassie asks, sending some magic out.

“Nope, we’re just having fun,” Justice says, grinning. “But you never know. Also, watch out for the dragon.”

The next moment a lava dragon comes flying out of the ground.

“This is awesome,” I say as we watch Temp and Cassie battle the dragon. Some of the town witches join in to help them. “Come on Nix, let’s play,” I say, dragging him into the fight.

We spend ages battling the dragon while trying to get across the stepping stones. All of us working together to try and bring the dragon down and get safely across the stones.

Halfway through, Justice, Sal and Callum join in working from the other end trying to stop us, sending dark spells our way. So we have to contend with lava, the dragon and dark spells.

I see Adhan and Alfred walk close to us.

“Time to think about wrapping this up folks, you’ve been playing for hours,” Adhan calls.

“But we’re winning,” Temp says, throwing a water ball towards Callum.

Callum bats it away, but straight into Adhan's face. The ball explodes on impact and Adhan is doused in water.

Alfred laughs and jumps out of the way, so he doesn’t get wet.

“Sorry,” Callum calls out, laughing his head off.

Adhan wipes a hand down his face. “I’d believe that if you hadn’t laughed,” Adhan replies.

I see Justice wave his hand and the illusion vanishes, the floor is back to being mats and the lava dragon gone.

I’m still laughing as I walk towards Adhan. “Do you want me to dry you off?”

“That would be nice, sweetheart,” he replies.

“See, if you had trusted us enough, you would have been housebuilding and not getting wet,” I tell him, clicking my fingers and drying him off.

“Addy still would have got wet,” Cam says grinning as he walks over to join us. “We’ve just all arrived to pick you up.”

“But we were winning,” Sion complained.
