I nodded. “Yes, I had a feeling this would happen. And once people start leaving reviews, you’ll have more business than you can handle.”

Just then, Michelle and Alicia walked into the room.

“There you are,” Michelle said.

“We’ve been looking all over for you,” Alicia added. “Come and dance with us! This DJ is amazing.”

“Okay!” Brenna said. She turned to me. “Do you want to come dance with us?”

Normally, I wasn’t a big dancer, but I wanted to be around Brenna as much as possible.

“I’ll join you in a few minutes,” I said. “I’m going to check on Rylan and probably say hello to your parents, but then I’ll come find you.”

“Okay, good,” she said, giving me a look that made my heart skip a beat.

She went out to dance with her friends, and I found Rylan playing basketball outside.

“Hey, how are you?” I asked.

“I am good,” Rylan said. “The food here is really tasty! And they keep bringing me as much soda as I want!”

I laughed. “I’m glad you’re having fun. I’m going to go dance for a bit, so if you need me, I’ll be on the dance floor.”

Josh stopped bouncing the basketball. “You’re dancing?” he asked.

“Yes,” I said. “Why?”

He shook his head. “No reason. I guess it’s just that I’ve never seen you dance before.”

“We’ve never really been anywhere where I would dance,” I said.

“Yes, we have,” Rylan answered, smirking. “We’ve gone to weddings. People dance at weddings, but you never do. You always sit there, and I remember you once said you really don’t like to dance.”

I smiled. “Well, I am dancing tonight.”

“Is Brenna dancing?” he asked, raising his eyebrows.

“None of your business,” I said.

Rylan and his friends started laughing, and I smiled as I made my way toward the dance floor.

As I walked, I ran into Brenna’s parents.

“This is a great party,” her mom said.

“It is,” I answered. “It’s a remarkable turnout, and everyone seems to be enjoying themselves.”

“You go to a lot of events for your job, don’t you?” her dad asked.

I nodded. “Yes, I do. Usually once a month or so.”

“That’s what we figured. Are they all like this? We’ve never been to anything like this. We’re enjoying it, but how does it compare to other events of this sort?”

“I know I’m biased, but even if I wasn’t, I’d say this is one of the best of these types of parties I’ve ever been to.”

Her dad’s face lit up, and I was touched by how proud he was of his daughter.

Some other people came to talk with them, and I excused myself and continued weaving through the crowd. The DJ began playing a slow song, and I was happy to find Brenna in the middle of the dance floor. I lightly tapped on her shoulder.
