“That’s a shame.”
I opened my mouth to say something. I don’t know what I was going to say. My gaze slammed into his, and all thoughts fled my brain. All thoughts except that I wanted his dick.
Landon chuckled. “Maybe when you’re not drunk.”
I slapped a hand over my mouth. “Did I say that out loud?”
“I think that means it’s time to get you home.”
I nodded and let him lead me outside into the cold night. It was dark, most of the town sound asleep already.
Landon’s hand was warm on my back as he guided me to his SUV. He opened the front door and steadied me while I balanced all my dicks and tried to hoist myself up. His hands went to my hips, his body pressed against my back.
He stilled for a minute, drawing a breath.
Heat rushed to my cheeks as I realized he was working to gain enough strength to lift my oversized body into the vehicle.
“You smell good,” he whispered into my hair.
“What?”
“You smell like blackberries and lilac.” He shivered against me, and I felt something thick against my backside that wasn’t there a minute ago.
“Oh.”
“I’m sorry. I shouldn’t…” He hoisted me up into the seat and slammed the door before I had a chance to think about exactly what was happening.
I stared as he walked around the front of the vehicle. He stopped next to his door, head down and lips moving like he was giving himself a pep talk.
He lifted his head and locked eyes with me.
The breath swept out of my lungs so fast it made me dizzy. The lust in his eyes… Was it lust? I’d never had a man look at me like he was.
He yanked open the door and climbed in next to me, tearing his gaze from mine and gripping the steering wheel so tight his knuckles turned white. “I know this isn’t part of our deal. I’m sorry I crossed a line.”
“What line did you cross?” And can you cross is a little farther?
“You wanted to know how to flirt with someone else, not me. We’re not… You’re not looking for anything beyond sex. I get it. I won’t cross that line again and put my hands on you.”
“I liked your hands on me,” I whispered.
He sucked in a sharp breath. “Casey.”
The word was pained, like it was taking something from him to groan my name.
Laughter cut through the air as others came out of the theater. Landon cranked up the SUV and pulled away from the curb without another word.
It was only a few seconds before he was parking in front of my building. A few more before he was opening my door.
“Are you coming in?” I blurted.
He chuckled. “I would love to, but I think you need some sleep.”
“I’m fine.”
“You fell asleep on the drive here.”
“No, I didn’t. It’s like five minutes away.”
