“Pretty confident in my abilities.”

“It’s so good, Lake. I could live with your head between my legs.” The admission is a thousand shades ofI can’t believe I just said thatbut he doesn’t seem to mind, his enthusiasm ratcheting up until I’m fisting the sheets and thrashing against his face.

“That was sexy as fuck, Pen,” he growls, pushing himself up slowly, his arm muscles rippling and flexing as he crawls up my body.

“Do you have a condom?”

“Bought a new box just for you,” he says, moving off the bed to open the drawer of the nightstand.

“Go through that many?” I ask in a way I hope sounds flippant even though it feels anything but.

“No.” The word is firm, leaving no room for discussion as he strips off his boxers and leans one knee onto the mattress. “I gave the rest to Reid because…well, he’s been having more sex than the rest of us and it was funny to drop the sleeve of condoms on his desk but,”—rolling his lips inward, he exhales heavily before adding—“the last time I was with anyone was when you got engaged.”

I can read between the lines.

And it’s enough.

Too much.

We’ve been wrapped up in our separate lives when we should have been wrapped up in each other.

Instead of responding, I rip a condom open and slide it down his length, a little shiver racing down my spine at the precum leaking from the tip.

“I don’t think I’ll ever get over having your hands on me.” His voice is filled with awe as he guides himself to my entrance, my heart rate kicking up as he rocks his hips, pushing the slightest bit inside me.

“Lake,” I plead and he chuckles but it’s more disbelieving than anything.

“I know, Baby, I just—” He pushes in a little more, sweat dotting his brow as I wrap my legs around his waist and force him to thrust all the way in.“Fuck.”

Forehead falling to mine, Lake holds himself there, his eyelids squeezed shut.

“Make love to me, Lake,” I tell him, cupping his face in my hands and kissing him softly on the lips. I’ve never felt closer to another person in my entire life, and I know I never will again.

“It’s crazy how good you feel,” he murmurs, his forearms caging me in as he starts to move.

I let him set the pace, his body sliding against mine, rocking and thrusting until he’s found a rhythm that has me begging him not to stop.

It’s not fast, but the intensity has me gasping every time he hits that spot inside me, his movements strong and sure as if he’s already mastered how to pleasure me.

I dig my heels into his ass, my nails raking over his shoulders as I shatter into a million little pieces, like snowflakes in the wind, tears leaking from the corner of my eyes as Lake groans my name, his face buried in the crook of my neck.

It is the most perfect moment of my life.

And it’s too much to hold back the sob lodged in my throat, the sheer onslaught of emotions pulling me under and setting me free all at once.

Lake’s head whips up, concern etched into his handsome face, but I hold him tighter, smiling wide as I press a kiss to his lips.

“Don’t ruin it.”

“But you’re crying.”

“Because I’m finally whole, Lake. I’m home.”
