This time didn’t disappoint, because now it was Finn who was mewling and whining beneath Jaime.
He was such a beautiful paradox; capable of fierce protectiveness when Jaime was in danger, and steady dominance when Jaime asked for it, but beneath his exploring tongue and lips, Finn melted. They’d have to explore this version of him later, too.
Jaime would start a list of all the things he wanted to try.
Between gentle laps at each fang, Jaime spoke. “I love these. I love seeing them, and kissing them. I love feeling them on myskin and the way you used them while you sucked my cock.” He knew the tips of his ears were red from being so forward, but this was too important to hold back.
He pulled away enough so he could see Finn’s face. “I’ll tell you if there’s ever something I don’t like, but I wanted that. Your teeth, and… when you told me what to do.”
He fiddled with the sheets beside Finn’s head, squirming on top of him, and the worry finally lifted from his eyes, leaving only the soft pleasure from their kiss.
Finn’s mouth tipped up in a crooked grin. “You did, didn’t you?”
Jaime gave him a look. “You know I did.”
Finn smiled wide, fangs on full display. It made Jaime’s chest ache. He continued, only because he wanted to keep that smile on Finn’s face forever and ever, “I like when you take control. Like that.” Softer, he said, “It makes me feel like you want me.”
He let himself be flipped back around, legs coming up to cradle Finn’s hips as he hovered over Jaime and looked at him with such soft reverence, it nearly made him cry again. “You are safe with me. Always, Jaime.”
Finn shifted so they both lay on their sides facing each other, and pulled him further into the cradle of his arms. He kissed Jaime’s hair, and spoke softly into his ear. “And I will always want you. More than I’ve ever wanted anything.” His voice grew heated, “And I liked that too, what we did. There’s a lot I’d like to try with you, Jaime. If you want that.”
Jaime rubbed his cheek on Finn’s chest. “Yes, Finn. Always yes.”
Finn stood long enough to grab a wet cloth to clean them both up, before he lay back down, shifting them so that Jaime was comfortably spooned in front of him, both exhausted from the long and tumultuous day.
“Get some sleep, baby. We’ll need to head out early in the morning.”
Jaime shimmied deeper into Finn’s embrace, and let the worries and questions of what tomorrow might bring float away from him. For now, he felt cherished and warm in Finn’s arms, and drifted into a sleep better than he’d had in a very long time.
Chapter 16
Finn
“What thefuckis going on?”
Finn woke up with a start, registering a loud bang followed by shouting. The soft, sleep-warm scent of Jaime hit him, along with the steady thrum ofmate, mate, mate, nestled deep in his chest. But an unknown, yet slightly familiar scent was also there.
Too close!
His instincts kicked in, and before he was even fully awake he shifted and uncurled his body from around Jaime, thundering across the room, and pinned the stranger to the wall—claws at his throat.
Mate is vulnerable.
Protect, protect, protect!
“Hey! What the—Jesus Christ, what the fuck are you?” The stranger cried.
Jaime stirred awake behind them. “Huh?” he snuffled, and rubbed the sleep from his eyes, blinking in the harsh morning light. When Jaime finally focused on them, he leapt out of bed and across the room, also shouting, “Finn, don’t!”
Jaime yanked at his wrist, pulling him away. Confused and stunned, Finn finally registered the stranger’s face. And then understood why the scent seemed familiar.
He was shorter than Jaime, and sturdier. Not quite stocky, but built more like a swimmer than Jaime’s long faerie-like nothing-but-legs profile. They had the same eyes and hair; maybe Jaime’s were a murkier green, and his hair was a shade darker, but they shared the same pale, freckled complexion, and the same ruddy cheeks.
There was absolutely no doubt about who this was.Sam Lamont.
Finn felt his stomach drop to the floor. He had just threatened Jaime’s brother. A brother he very clearly loved and cared for deeply, despite their current falling out and the hurt that was palpable between them. And then Finn realized that not only had he just threatened Jaime’s brother, but he had done it shifted. Andnaked.
Oh God.
