Shit!Chris must have tattled after all.

“Good morning!” she said brightly.

“You lied to me.” His words were clipped. “You said you were living with a model named Melody.”

“Iamliving with Melody,” Cara hedged. “Wes is staying here while he’s looking for a house.”

“His name is Wes Evans?”

Thanks, Luke. That meant a call from James was next. “Yeah.”

“He works in cybersecurity?” Declan’s voice was dark and low.

Cara took a sip of coffee. “He’s a nice guy. I’m perfectly fine.”

“Cara.” Declan coughed. “Um… I need to tell you something.”

She knew what he was going to say. “He told me.”

“Told you what?” Declan’s voice was a little too careful.

“That you hired him to erase those pictures of me last year.”

There were several beats of silence. “He told you that?”

“See, nothing to worry about.” Something clicked in her brain. “I take that back. You’ve got nothing to worry about with Wes. What you should be concerned about is I just learned you and the twins discussed legally challenging the will and said nothing to me.”

“Don’t change the subject. I have questions about this guy. It seems extremely coincidental that he would show up at the same house.”

“The three of you didn’t think I had a right to know? Patted me on the head and sent me off to Spain. Do you have any idea how hurt and pissed off I am?” She banged down her coffee mug.

“We didn’t want you involved. If it had gone beyond that conversation, then of course we would have looped you in.”

“Looped me in?I should bepartof the loop. I’m your sister! And ithasgone beyond that conversation. That much is clear, even though I have no idea what was said because I wasn’t included,” she said bitterly. “This is why you and the twins are fighting, isn’t it?”

“That’s oversimplifying—”

“Because you want to challenge the will, and they won’t help?”

“Chris really filled you in,” Declan drawled. “Fine. I was unhappy. I think they should have wanted to fight, but they thought it was a waste of time.”

Cara knew her brother was trying to downplay his disappointment, but she also knew how important loyalty was to him. “You should have told me.”

Declan grunted, but Cara left it, knowing arguing was a waste of energy. Declan rarely apologized.

“I might have some news on that front. Corinne is closing up her apartment, to prepare for her wedding in a couple of weeks, and she came across a gift Dad bought for me right before he died.”

“How did she get it?” Declan asked.

“She ran into him in Dublin, and they spent the afternoon together.”

“You never said they spent the afternoon together!”

“Declan, be quiet for a minute and let me finish my story!”

Declan grumbled but stayed quiet as she told him all she knew about the snow globe.

He was quiet for a moment and then said, “I think I might know what the Dublin connection is.”
