They lay there a long moment, slick with sweat as a dappled light moved across them from the windows. Dusk’s chuckle was sweet as he nuzzled Layla’s cheek and she ran her fingers through Adrian’s soft, brush-cut hair. As Dusk’s strong hands stroked her hips, Adrian slid out of her, heaving a tremendous sigh as he went. As Adrian fell to Layla’s side, curling close to her and Dusk, Dusk murmured at Layla’s ear.

“Have anything left, woman?”

“Yes.” She breathed as she turned her head towards him.

“Then let’s finish up.” He spoke seductively back as his lips whispered over hers. Sliding lower, his hands slipped between her legs, brushing over delicate places now. Layla keened as he touched her, as Dusk stroked and slid his fingers over her with all the expert attention of his past hundred and fifty years playing with his Courtier and Courtesan lovers. As he lifted her up, tensing his body once more so he could slide deep inside her real opening now, Layla gasped with delight. But as she lay atop him, he merely slid himself in and out, deep and firm until she could feel him shuddering with little shivers, trying to make it last.

But then Layla felt Adrian grip one of Dusk’s hands, sending a cascade of shudders through Dusk as Dusk gripped Adrian back. As their muscles strained against each other’s, fighting in the game they so loved, Dusk quickened inside Layla. As Adrian put his all into it now, contesting against Dusk while Dusk fucked Layla, Dusk suddenly heaved a roar.

And exploded into orgasm inside Layla, crying out as he came.

Collapsing beneath her, Dusk heaved with shivers, letting his aftershocks roll for a long while until at last he slipped out of Layla with another low cry. Sliding off so she was next to him now, Layla cuddled close to Dusk with one thigh up over his hips as Adrian spooned her back. As Dusk smoothed his hands over her thigh, still erupting deeply with tremors, Layla smiled, kissing his shoulder. Reaching out, Dusk slid his arm around her, pulling her close so her head rested on his chest as he reached out further, corralling Adrian behind the neck also. They lay that way for a long while, watching the late afternoon light play over the rumpled silk sheets.

Until Dusk heaved a deep sigh, turning his head to look at them both.

“Holy fuck.” He murmured, shaking his head with a wry smile. “It’s been a long while since I did it without magic. I forgot how good it is.”

“Holy fuck is right.” Adrian chuckled from behind Layla now, lifting up to one elbow as he palmed her waist. As Layla glanced up, she saw Adrian’s eyes shining a bright Mediterranean-blue in the waning light, with vivid flecks of gold. “We make a good threesome, even without our magics pouring through our veins. I like it.”

“So do I.” Dusk murmured as he watched Adrian. Something passed between them then, something Layla could feel as they watched each other. Brotherly, soldierly, adversarial but loving all at once, it was a complex emotion as Dusk lifted a hand, lacing his fingers into Adrian’s at Layla’s waist. Neither said anything, just watched each other as a deep quietude filled them both. It was tender as Adrian smiled, stroking his thumb over Dusk’s fingers where their hands interlaced.

And then Adrian kissed Layla’s lips and squeezed Dusk’s hand, pushing up out of bed. “It’s almost five-thirty. We should get ready for Reginald’s party. Because I have worked up an appetite; this Desert drake needs some food.”

“You always need to eat after sex, Adrian. Metabolism like a racehorse.” Dusk laughed then, their moment broken in a sweet way as he kissed Layla and pushed up off the rumpled bed also, leaving her alone in the sweaty sheets and shaking her head with a bemused smile. Moving nude to Layla’s side-bar near the vaulted windows, Adrian poured himself a bourbon, then two more for Dusk and Layla. Chuckling, Dusk went to Adrian and received his bourbon, and the two shared a comfortable silence as they clinked and sipped. Taking up Layla’s drink, Dusk raised his straight dark eyebrows at her, proffering it. Rising, she went to them, taking up her bourbon also.

Adoring her two most beloved mates as she throbbed so deliciously down below.

“You two are more complicated than a basketful of Rubik’s cubes.” She grinned now as she sipped her bourbon, admiring their tender care for each other even as they’d cared for her so sweetly and deeply earlier. Completely satisfied, Layla’s body hummed with pleasure and contentment now, and she could feel Dusk and Adrian’s doing the same.

“Aren’t we just?” Dusk chuckled, his sapphire eyes on fire with diamond as he glanced at Adrian, after all their trio had shared today.

But it was Adrian who spoke now, as a heat of gold flashed through his eyes at what had passed between them all. “Dusk and I have an unconventional relationship, Layla; we always have. It doesn’t have to be expressed in any usual way. Brotherly, camaraderie, sharing, wrathful… somehow it all works. In just the way we need it to.”

“So does this mean you’re bi?” Layla cocked her head at Adrian with a teasing smile now.

“Not at all.” Adrian smiled back at her, humorous right back as he grinned. “Stop fantasizing about Dusk and I together, Layla. It’s never going to happen.”

“Still. A girl can dream, right?” She teased, reaching out and netting him around the waist.

“Dream on, drakaina, dream on.” Adrian chuckled, as he brushed her hair back from her face –pressing his lips to hers one last time in the languid afternoon.

CHAPTER 13 – GIFT

Layla, Dusk, and Adrian dressed in Layla’s rooms for Reginald’s party that night. Still sipping their bourbons, her drakes let Layla take the first shower like the gentlemen they were; as she rinsed quickly in her gilded marble shower and shut the water off, she heard Dusk and Adrian laughing out beyond the bathroom. It brought a smile to her face as she secured a fluffy white towel around herself, stepping out of the shower and moving back to the main room. Still nude, her men were seated at her French Baroque breakfast table, grinning as they talked.

“Shower’s free.” Layla spoke with a grin of her own now, their smiles infectious. “Unless there’s something you two would rather be doing?”

“Fucking you again comes to mind, especially with you looking so fetching in that towel.” Dusk spoke smartly with a sexy growl as he stood, downing the last of his bourbon. “But I believe I need to claim the next rinse if we’re to get to this party on time. You know, because I was fucking you in the ass just now.”

“Dusk!” Layla gaped at him with a startled laugh as Dusk waggled his eyebrows at her.

“The things that come out of your mouth sometimes, I swear.” Adrian chuckled as he sipped his drink again, a fire of humor in his eyes also. “You have the worst sailor’s luridness I’ve ever heard, even though you could never be a sailor because you hate the water.”

“Not all water.” Dusk quipped back now. “I love showers when I’ve been dirty. Be right back.” With a rumbling laugh at his own joke, Dusk winked at Layla as he passed, slowing down so she could take in everything nature had given him as he entered the bathroom. He laughed again, and soon Layla heard the shower water start.

“He really is a handful sometimes, isn’t he?” Layla shook her head as she joined Adrian at the table, combing her fingers through her wet locks and spritzing them with a magical solution that Hotel Wardrobe made to fast-dry her curls.

“Always has been.” Adrian spoke with a calmer smile now as he watched Layla primp, his aqua eyes admiring. The sun was descending beyond the forest, though it was still a few hours until nightfall as the summer shadows stretched long over the Hotel’s gardens. Peeper frogs chorused in the ponds and Layla threw the windows open wider to catch the cooling breeze.
