“That’s debatable.” I giggled. “Would it be wrong if I”—I inhaled a much-needed breath—“used the bathroom?” Where did that come from?

His hearty laugh bounced off the walls.

“It’s not that funny.” I playfully slapped him.

“Think about how that question started? And that’s not what you wanted to ask me.”

I adjusted my body so that I was facing him. “Are you a mind reader?”

He was about to answer when I leaned in and locked lips with him.

He froze, becoming a full-on ice sculpture.

I pulled back, touching my lips. “I’m sorry. I should call an Uber.” I made a grab for my purse, my heart thudding in humiliation until Lucas caught me, spun me, and dropped me right onto his lap.

His hands dove in my hair, and our mouths collided in a torrent of needy lust.

My body was a match ready to spark, and I had a feeling he was about to light the flame.

This wasn’t smart. This wasn’t safe. But it was exactly what I wanted.

Lucas

Holy fuck! She blindsided me, and for a moment, I didn’t know what to do. I had no intention of touching her tonight, even though since we’d fallen into the pool, I’d been jonesing to sweep her into my arms and carry her into the pool house. I was afraid that she would’ve kicked me in the balls.

Ryker and the guys had been ribbing me to make the first move, but Mazzie hadn’t given me any signs. She’d stuck close to Bailey most of the night as though she was afraid of me or afraid of herself.

Tugging on my bottom lip, she wiggled her sexy ass on my lap, knocking me clear into the stratosphere.

Man, she tasted as sweet as apple pie and felt like heaven. I held her face in my hands, afraid to touch her anywhere else. Afraid if I did, I wouldn’t stop, and right now, I was following her lead.

She stirred emotions in me that were foreign, frightening, yet downright freeing. Mazzie was awakening a part of me that had been dormant since Natalia. Hell, I slept with blondes so they didn’t remind me of what I’d lost. Sure, I’d only been a teenager, but that first love stuck like superglue.

Our tongues tangoed, moans peppered the air, and if I didn’t shut this down, I would be parachuting into an abyss.

I broke away then rested my forehead on hers. “God, Mazzie, I told myself I wouldn’t do this.”

“Why not?” She pouted. “We’re both adults. We both want this.” Her nose wrinkled. “Though I know I’m not blonde.”

The pain in her voice and that sulky expression almost broke me. My admission about only dating blondes wasn’t true. I’d lied to push her away because Ryker might have been right when he’d said that I would fall so hard that I wouldn’t know what hit me.

Yet at the moment, I didn’t care that I’d worked hard not to tie myself down in a relationship. Those soft breathy sounds coming out of her every time she wiggled on my lap, trying to get friction against my hard-as-stone cock, were killing me.

She nibbled on my ear. “One night, Lucas. No strings attached.”

I was trying to stay rational, but my body wasn’t listening.

Her hand dove between us until she was squeezing my dick. “Mm. See, you want me.” Her hot breath on my ear only made me harder.

I gently yanked on her hair. “Look at me.”

She sat up. Her cheeks were rosy, her eyes dilated, and her lips were swollen.

I ran my thumb along her jaw, watching it fall open under my touch. “There’s no going back after tonight.”

“You sound like everything changes once I walk out the door. Do you tell all your hookups that?”
