‘Please reconsider,’ I couldn’t lose my only friend just because of one of his moods.

‘I will, when you’ll learn to behave. You made a fool of me today by leaving.’

‘I didn’t know...’ Of course, I knew. ‘I didn’t realize this would affect you.’

‘Now you know. And Mouse, if you disobey me, you won’t be the one paying the price. Jenna will.’

Shit, he was stepping up his game, taking all the measures necessary so that I would be left without an option.

‘Jenna has nothing to do with us.’

‘My mind is made up. If you have something else to add to the matter, I’m expecting you to unfasten my zipper as you speak.’

He had a way to get me to shut up. But never a way to make me give up.

 Chapter 11

Imanaged to stay by Cole’s side for the rest of the hour, then according to his request I played the girlfriend role for a few extra breaks.

I wasn’t even sure he even liked the role he’d cast out to me, but he sure loved how I was reacting to it. I guess he found it exciting, taking him a little away from his daily routine. In any case, I wasn’t going to stand by, waiting for another one of his fantasies to become my command.

The second my last seminar ended, I snuck out of the Academy like a burglar into the night, hoping that Cole wouldn’t catch a glimpse of me. I was out of the woods, but entering an entirelydifferentkind of woods since there was a certain someone that I owed a visit to. A proper one this time.Ferris.

With only five minutes on the clock to spend at my apartment before I had to rush out, I left the babysitter orders for the night, changed, and kissed my family goodnight.

Alfred was surprised by my arrival there before nightfall, and although he didn’t tell me this with words, I could see it in his eyes.

‘Is he in his room?’ I asked, thinking that Ferris was probably sleeping.

‘No, he’s in the day-room, watching the news. Follow me. I’ll lead you to him.’

The news!? I dreaded the news to the point that I wasn’t even turning on the TV. I knew where things were going and how they were going to end if we didn’t intervene.

He was so focused that I don’t think he even heard me stepping into the room. I didn’t want to make him aware of my presence either, as the news that was on captured my attention completely.

It’s been a quiet day in the Pit as the number of protesters has slightly diminished since yesterday as they were being led just by just a few of their commanders today. There are rumors that the protests and acts of violence will decrease in their intensity during the next couple of days since people have been summoned to go back to their normal activities. What we do not know is if this small setback could mean an attempt to return to normal, or the calm before the storm.

We don’t know yet know the intentions of all of the leaders, and the rebellious spirits talk about setting out a plan of attack.

On the other side, the governor declared during a press conference he attended earlier today that the Elite is ready to hold its ground, and I quote‘No one can threaten our security without repercussions. We are ready for whatever action they could manifest against us. I just hope they are also ready to face the consequences.’

We return with the global news, but tune in at seven for the entire press conference and the after-interviews from the governor.

‘Do you think Brax got to the commanders?’ I asked as soon as the news report ended, getting Ferris to turn slightly shocked towards me.

I guess I forgot to let him know I was in the room.

‘I just transferred 4.5 million dollars to him. I think it’s safe to say that he already convinced a number of them.’

‘Yeah, I have no doubt that Brax can be convincing,’ I muttered, remembering exactly how convincing he could get at times.

But I guess Ferris also knew that ‘Like convincing you to sleep with him again? That kind of convincing?’

Fuck, he knew. Though, despite what Brax probably had told him, he didn’t seem so pissed about it. I just hoped it wasn’t a fake calm like last time, and that I wouldn’t end up under his blade again. It didn’t feel that way. More like he was content with the situation, as strange as that might seem.

‘Do you guys talk about everything you do?’ I was concerned about my nights spent with them being their subject of conversation.

‘More or less. It just came up last night when I talked to him,’ Ferris shrugged like it was the most casual thing. Them talking about me.
