Epilogue

 Sophie

 Two months later.

 Jack and Robyn's wedding.

“Mia, what on earth is wrong? You're not yourself at all.” I ask, concerned for my friend.

“It’s nothing - I'm happy for Jack and Robyn, they're so happy, you're so happy with Dec. I...guess I want a bit of that for me, you know?”

“You've never been bothered about this, about settling down with one guy. Are you sure that’s all it is?” I guess being single can get lonely sometimes, but I can't help feeling that there is something more going on with her.

Jack and Robyn's wedding has gone perfectly. They’re blissfully happy and in love, and everything went without a hitch, and I have never seen a more stunning bride.

I still find it hard to believe I've been married for two months. Of course, I moved into Dec's house, but inhisbedroom this time, not the spare room. We have our celebration with Dec's family, my dad, all our friends in a month. Dec blows me away every day. I never knew it was possible to feel so strongly for another human being.

He looks at me from across the room while talking with his sister and her new boyfriend. He raises his eyebrows at me to silently ask if I'm good. I give him a nod and a smile, a secret smile just for us.

He gives me a wink and turns back to his conversation. I turn my attention back to Mia. She’s looking off into the distance somewhere.

I turn around to see what she’s looking at, but I don't see anything but Denny and his new woman. I still can’t believe it - Denny has a woman. I'm not too sure about her yet. There is something about Denny that has changed. I'm worried about it. At first, I thought that he might be backing off being friends with me because I'm married, but that’s not it, he’s acting strange. I can't put my finger on it. I need to talk to him at some point. I make the decision to find out what’s going on with him as soon as possible - must be something in the air.

I turn back to Mia and see that she has tears in her eyes. “Mia, come with me now.”

The reception is taking place at Robyn's parents' huge house. We go through the kitchen into a room that’s Eli’s playroom.

I turn and face her. “What’s up? You know you can tell me.”

“I'm so stupid, Soph.” She says as a tear runs down her cheek.

“No you're not. Whatever it is, spill so I can help you with it.”

She looks at me for a moment and takes a deep breath. “I'm pregnant.”

My stomach drops. That is the last thing I expected her to say.

 “You're...pregnant?”

She nods. “I’ve only just found out. I can't believe it Soph, what the fuck am I going to do?”
