Discovering what a murdering, sneaky bitch his mother was would do no one any good. It would crush a man who only ever saw the best of his mother. Believed her a victim of his father’s and grandfather’s brutality. Kendall didn’t want that for her brother-in-law. She wanted her boys to cherish and revere her. She couldn’t undermine another woman’s son no matter what a cunt she’d been.
Maybe, she needed to talk to Bash herself. Find out what he knew. See if they could come to some type of deal.
Scratch that. Motherfucker wouldn’t honor any agreement.
“Knock, knock.”
Startled, Kendall snapped her mouth closed and looked up just as Tabitha walked into her office. She was the last bitch Kendall wanted to see after reading the correspondence of lunatics. She wasn’t in the mood to deal with her niece by marriage.
Kendall flipped the folder closed and placed it on top of Joe Foy’s letter to the mystery woman. “What do you want?”
“Information. I need to talk to you about a case.”
Not what Kendallwanted to hear.
The reason she’d begun focusing on the club matter was because she’d been more than a little frustrated that the prosecution seemed to have withheld a vital piece of evidence with the trial set for Monday. She’d needed a breather from the frustrating turn of events. Instead, she’d gotten a fucking headache.
“Have you had a chance to review the ad damnum for the Lang case?”
“Excuse me?”
Tabitha smirked. “The claim for damages.”
Unimpressed, Kendall narrowed her eyes. “Congratulations, you found time to learn a legal term.”
“Iama paralegal.”
“In your pathetic little world. To me you’re still here because you suck good cock. Specifically, Diesel’s.”
Tabitha gasped.
“You want to play? Learn who you’re fucking with first.”
Since Kendall spent as little time as possible in her company, Tabitha wouldn’t know.
“You’re right, of course,AuntKendall. Please accept my apology.”
If Diesel hadn’t married the bitch, Tabitha wouldn’t be her niece. Stupid motherfucker.
Shereallydidn’t want to, but there was enough bullshit bubbling up. “Why are you in my office?” she asked, cross.
“Er, uh, I-I heard about the incident at the club.”
“What incident are you referring to?”
“Torie.” Tabitha swallowed. “The girl Diesel told me Uncle Christopher strangled.”
Kendall glowered. Diesel couldn’t bethatmuch of a stupid motherfucker.
Removing her glasses and setting them on her desk, Kendall rubbed her temples. “I don’t knowanything about Torie,” she snapped. She knew that bitch was dead. That was enough.
Tabitha nodded and changed the subject. “Diesel told me Outlaw tracks Meggie. Does he always do it, even when they’re together?”
Straightening, Kendall snatched her eyeglasses and shoved them on. “He tracks all of us.”
“But Diesel said he’s obsessed about keeping dibs on Meggie, so would he have someone else track her, while he was with her?”
“Undoubtedly. He’s obsessed withMeggie,” Kendall said flatly. “What’s your goddamn point? To show me Diesel’s a fucking big mouth idiot? Or to reveal you’re a nosy fucking bitch?” She glared at Tabitha. “What? Because I’m fucking clueless why you’re coming into my office when I go out of my fucking waynotto talk to you.Brookshired you. But if you keep fucking with me, I’ll see he fucking fires you because I’ll call Charlotte. I don’t give a fuck if you’re married to Diesel.”
