I scowled. “Did he say what he needed it for? Was it for Trenton’s Treats?” If that was the case, I wasn’t sure why he wouldn’t have mentioned that to me at one of our many meetings.

“I believe it was a personal line of credit he applied for.” He looked embarrassed as he continued. “I only mention it because I remember he had a little trouble a while ago… with that gambling thing.”

“Right.” I gave a sharp nod. “Did he get the line of credit?”

Julio grimaced. “I don’t think so.”

“Thanks for telling me.” I was embarrassed he was the one who’d had to tell me, but glad to know my dad was up to something. I hated feeling like my family couldn’t trust him and his decisions, but ever since he’d almost lost our house, we’d all tried to keep a close eye on his spending.

 Obviously not close enough.

“No problem. I thought you should know.”

“Definitely. Um… I’m gonna go find Seth.” I slapped Julio’s back, and then headed toward the bar area.

As I got closer to the lounge, I spied Seth sitting on a stool at the bar talking to some guy. My gut clenched when the other guy leaned in and touched his arm. Seth wasn’t doing anything to encourage the guy as far as I could tell, but he also didn’t shake the guy’s hand off. I had a split second of jealousy, but the minute Seth saw me, his smile was so warm and guilt free, I immediately relaxed.

“Hey, sorry. I was just about to come back over.” Seth looked sheepish as he spoke.

“It’s fine. I don’t blame you for making your escape.” I met the gaze of the guy sitting beside Seth. “I’m Tanner, Seth’s fiancé.”

The guy’s face flushed. “Oh, sorry. Didn’t know he was taken.”

“Yeah, he likes to keep it secret,” I muttered.

Seth frowned, but when he stood he didn’t address my remark. “So what now? Did you want to dance, or maybe find some more of your friends?”

I sighed, slipped my arm around his waist and whispered against his ear, “I just want to go back to my place, and get in bed with you.”

“Yeah?” he laughed softly. “Had enough of the party scene for tonight?”

I chuffed. “Definitely. In fact, I feel like I’ve had enough of this party scene for life. Not sure what I dragged you here for.”

“Probably wanted to show off your sexy boyfriend.” He smirked, setting his glass on the bar.

I smiled. “Yep. That was it. But now that we’ve made our appearance, I can’t wait to get the hell out of here.”

“Oh thank, God.” He grinned. “These fucking shoes are killing me, and I feel like a mummy in this suit.”

“You look pretty awesome all dressed up.”

 “Thanks.”

“You’re welcome.” I leaned in and kissed him softly.

When the kiss ended, he sighed. “You sure this is a good idea? Marrying a guy like me? I don’t really fit in with these people, and it’s obvious you do, or at least did.”

“You don’t have to fit in with them. You only have to fit in with me, and you do. Perfectly.”

 “You sure?”

I laughed. “Oddly enough, yeah. I am.”

“In that case; will youpleasetake me back to your place? I’m kind of tired of being stared at. People are looking at me like I’m an alien from space.”

I chuckled as I steered him toward the exit. “That’s because the idea of Tanner Trenton getting married is about as bizarre to these people as an alien ship landing in the middle of this party.”

“I had no idea what a catch you were. Well, I mean, I knew you were cool, but until the last ten people we talked to told me how lucky I was, I foolishly thought maybe we were both lucky.”
