I ran my fingers over the heart and initials once again.I hated staring at it, for all it did was remind me of how stupid I was to actually think I’d ever meant anything to Colton Fox.I tore my eyes from the mark and looked at my reflection in the mirror.I wanted to die knowing that he’d seen it, and more than ever I needed to find someone who could remove it—sooner rather than later.

I reached over to grab the towel I’d brought in with me when the bathroom door flung open and Colton walked in completely naked.

I froze as my eyes skimmed over his body. The man was immense in every aspect. We both stood there, eyes locked on one another, each of us taking the other in, and then, as if a light switch went off, shock and horror filled me.

What the hell was he doing here? His flight wasn’t scheduled to land for another hour yet.

“Oh my god!”I screamed, scrambling to cover myself.“Get out!”

I stepped over and shoved the door closed and then turned to look at myself in the mirror.I’d never be able to look at him again, I thought to myself, mortified that not only had I seen him naked but that he’d seen me.

Chapter Fifteen

Colton

“What is the matter with you?”

“What do you mean?”I questioned, staring at both Dylan and Knox.

When I’d walked through the door, I’d thought I’d been in the wrong house.I actually had to do a double take at my address, so I’d gone down to her room for an explanation for not only the furniture, but the reason she’d left me at the games.

When I didn’t find her in her bedroom, I’d figured she’d gone out or something, so I’d gone into my bedroom and stripped out of my clothes, welcoming a hot shower.

I’d walked into the bathroom and was about to flip on the lights when I saw her.She stood there, towel in her hand, staring back at me.At first we just stared at one another. Then she flipped out, screaming, walking toward the door.I’d backed out just in time for her to slam the door shut.Instead of staying and waiting for her to come out, I’d gotten dressed and headed over to Knox’s place where I found out that Dylan was still there.

“I don’t understand. You should have walked into that bathroom and staked your claim.”

“Yeah, man, why didn’t you just go in, wrap your arms around her, carry her to the bed, and…”

I stared at both Knox and Dylan.

If this had been any other situation, I’d have done exactly what they were saying, but this was Emma, someone that I cared about.

“I don’t know, panicked, I guess.”

“Panicked?A guy like yourself, so confident in the bedroom, one who always has girls falling all over him, panicked?”Dylan chuckled.

“Yeah, man, this doesn’t sound like the same guy who’d taken on three chicks down in Vegas last summer.”

Fuck, I’d forgotten I’d told them that story.

“I don’t know.Emma is just…different.”

“Oh no,” Knox said, pinching the bridge of his nose before he ran his hand through his hair and looked at me.

“What?”

“Yep, oh no is right,” Dylan said, chuckling.

“It’s worse than we thought.”Knox added.

“What is?”I questioned.

“You really like this girl. That is why you panicked. Not for any other reason.”

“Well, there is the history, remember,” I said.

“Yes, the history, but I’m not talking about the history.I’m talking about now.”
