Well, that explains Star’s sudden shift in attitude. I shoot Mike an apologetic look. “Sorry. I came with my suitemates and they’re leaving.”

His face falls. “Well, shit. We were just getting to know each other.”

Chewing on my lip, I glance around. This party is nothing but people letting off a little steam after the first week of classes. “Um. I guess I could stay. I mean, if you want.”

A slow smile creeps onto his face. “That’d be great. I’ll make sure you get home.”

Me:I’m going to stay. Mike said he’ll make sure I get home.

Raven:Okay. Have fun and be safe. You have a key, right?

Me:Yep. Lock up.

Me:Be back in maybe an hour.

Raven:Text when you leave, okay?

Me:You got it.

Slipping my phone into the back pocket of my jean shorts, I happen to glance past Mike’s handsome face to find Hawk is only a few paces from us, dancing with a pretty redhead. His hazel eyes, though… they’re totally on me. And when I situate myself so I’m facing the other partygoers with my back against Mike’s front, Hawk bristles.

Mike’s hands first land on my hips, and as I gaze steadily at Hawk, Mike and I begin to move. It’s slow and sultry, and the heat of Mike’s body burns into my back. I lift my arms and hold onto his neck, noting that Hawk’s attention hasn’t strayed. He’s not even fazed by the girl who is practically climbing him in an attempt to get closer. She’s doing everything she can—rubbing her breasts on his chest, sliding her hand down until she’s stroking his dick—but he’s completely ignoring her in favor of watching me.

Mike’s hand slides around, and his palm rests on my bare stomach where my top has shimmied upward as I dance with my arms raised.

My brain’s a little fuzzy and my vision blurs for a second, but I know it must be the alcohol. I’m in control. I’m fine.

For a few seconds, I close my eyes and allow myself to get carried away in what I’m feeling. I know Hawk’s still watching, his eyes wandering over me hungrily. It causes a blast of energy to hurtle through my system. It’s like nothing I’ve ever felt before. Except recently. With him. And in my mind, I can’t help myself. It’s fucked up in so many ways, but I imagine that it’s Hawk who I’m dancing with, who I’m dancing for. It’s Hawk’s hands on me, and his hard-on at my back. It’s his dirty mind thinking dirty, dirty thoughts of what he wants to do to me.

“Fuck, baby. Your ass feels so good grinding on my dick.” Mike’s whispered words snap me out of my little fantasy in shocking fashion, much like when you get hit by a bunch of water on one of those white-water rafting rides.

I gasp, and my arms immediately drop, but my head is spinning pretty badly now, and I wonder if Mike’s actually been holding me up because my legs feel a little like Jell-O. I blow out a breath. Try to brush some hair out of my face, but my hand misses its target. “I don’t feel good.” My eyes light on Hawk again, and I flinch. Why is he watching me like this? Why does he hate me so much? Why?

“Aw baby, you’ll be fine. Maybe a little drunk.” He drops his head to the crook of my neck and sucks on my skin. His tongue darts out, sliding over my flesh.

It feels wrong, so wrong. I slump against him, having some trouble keeping my feet under me.

FIFTEEN

HAWK

Fuck this. I ditch the girl in my arms and stride quickly from the room to the kitchen, where I occupy myself with mixing another drink. Dammit, Lux is either super drunk or… I dunno. If this is one of her first experiences with alcohol, maybe it’s hitting her hard. And that fucknut is taking full advantage, putting his mouth on her neck. Groping her breasts as they dance. Grinding his dick against her ass.

I tilt my head to the side, studying the contents of my cup, and let myself get more and more pissed off. This girl—she’s mine. Mine to toy with and taunt. Mine to torture and tempt. She took from me, so I’ll take from her. So, him touching her? It makes my blood boil. The longer I stand here, stewing over his fucking hands on her, the more the rage inside of me threatens to erupt.

I think fucking not. I won’t allow it. He can’t have her.

My jaw clenches at how he’d whispered in Lux’s ear, her head bobbling a bit as she’d attempted to look at him. Frustrated, I slam my cup down on the counter, ignoring the fact that I just sloshed my Jack and Coke all over the place. I push away from the counter and haul ass back to the living room. I stop on the perimeter of the makeshift dance floor and scan the crowd. She’s nowhere around.Fuck.And I don’t see Maddox or Kellan anywhere or either of Lux’s friends. There’s no help in sight. And she’sgone.

My hands dive into my hair, and I scrub them through it.Dammit.Where is she? I turn to the first girl I see, startling her as I grit out, “Did you happen to see a blonde who was kind of out of it?” I gesture to where I’d left them. “She was dancing with a tall guy over there. One of the frat brothers, I think. Mike?”

The random girl looks at me with wide eyes as her gaze slowly shifts to the stairs that are visible at the far side of the room. “I think the girl you are talking about went up there. With a bunch of guys, actually. She looked pretty fucked-up.” She wets her lips. “Three of them led the way, and the fourth one carried her over his shoulder. They were kind of laughing.”

Because that’s all Lux is to him. He’s carried her away like a sack of human flesh with a few convenient holes. “Thanks,” I growl at the girl as I bolt in the direction of the stairs.

I throw open several unlocked doors, not finding anyone. When I get to the fifth, there’s a couple fucking on the bed, too drunk to realize that I’m there or that they never locked the door.

The sixth and final door is locked when I check it. My hands clench the door frame as I shut my eyes. She’s in there, I know it. She has to be.
