“I love you,” I declared, unable to keep the words inside me, and his eyes softened. He bent down and pressed his lips to mine. I could taste the wine and the saffron from the paella we’d shared, and him. I could taste that earthy, familiar thing that was only Yariel, and that I would always crave.

“Te amo, mi amor,” he whispered against my lips as I opened up for a deeper kiss. Needing the connection, I put my hands on either side of his face as we tasted each other. A possessive rumble came out of Yari’s chest, and my dick pulsed in excitement.

Maybe we could skip dessert…

But after a second, he pulled back.

“Later,” he promised huskily. “The dessert will be the best part.”

“I don’t think there’s a sweet in existence that would put me off your dick,” I protested, eliciting a flustered laugh from Yariel as he moved to top off our champagne glasses.

“The things you say, Hatuey.” His voice brimmed with affection, and my heart really felt close to bursting.

“This night has been perfect, baby. Thank you.” I meant every word. “You take such good care of me.”

“You’re the most important person in my life. The one thing I can’t live without.”

He sounded so serious, I had to sit up. Something about the way he looked at me made the air in the room change.

“Hatuey.” His serious voice made me wonder once again if he was up to something. “This last year has been the best of my life. You make so happy. So much happier than I dreamed I could be.”

My heart hammered against my chest as I watched Yariel push back his chair.

“Yari?” I asked as, in one graceful move, he lowered down to one knee in front of me.

I opened my mouth, but only a sob escaped my lips, and then he was pulling out a little red-and-gold box from his pocket. My chest pulsed and my stomach flopped around in my belly as I looked at him.

“You’re my whole life, Hatuey. The one person I want to see every morning when I wake up, and the one I want to kiss every night before I go to sleep. I want to be your man, always.”

I had no words left and could only nod as Yariel gave me the most romantic moment of my life. With trembling hands, he opened the small box to reveal a platinum Cartier Love band encrusted with diamonds—because my man really did know me better than anyone—and finally asked the question.

“Hatuey Sanchez, will you marry me?”

I jumped him. I leaped down from the chair, threw my arms around his neck as tears ran down my face.

“Of course I’ll marry you,” I said between laughs and sobs, as we rolled on the floor, my engagement ring still in his hands between us.

“Can you let me put this on you, before this gets more heated?” Yari asked with feigned annoyance.

“Please.” I extended my left hand, and he slipped on the ring.

We were kneeling in front of each other, and I tugged him until his mouth was close enough to kiss. “I can’t wait to be your husband,” I said, more than a little breathless.

In response Yari made one of those growly sounds that made my dick hard, and took me in his arms. After a moment he stood up and pulled me with him until we were snuggled together on the couch.

“Happy Valentine’s Day, Hatuey,” Yari said as I pressed my cheek to his chest and looked at my engagement ring.”

I looked up at him, and he bent down to kiss me one more time. He really did always know what I needed.

“I’m the happiest, I’ve ever been,” I confessed, and he brought me closer and pressed a kiss to my cheek.

“That’s all I want to do for the rest of my life. Make you happy.”

I could feel the tears brimming my eyes, at his words, at the certainty I felt that he would keep that promise.

“I will do the same for you,” I vowed, as I pressed into his warmth, reveling in our happily ever after. “Happy Valentine’s Day, amor.”
