She tossed the silicone cock to the side as she went limp, the vibrator still buzzing against her stomach.

“Give me one more.”

“I don’t know if I can.” Her voice was a rough whisper and I wanted to swallow every word she spoke.

I picked the phone up while wiping my stomach clean with my discarded shirt, my face filling the screen. “You can, baby.”

With shaking hands, she ran the vibe over her pubic bone and back to her clit.

I swiped off the screen for a split second to increase the intensity.

“F-fuck,” she breathed, her body winding tight again.

“Good girl. I knew you could do it.”

She threw her head back in sheer ecstasy as her body shuddered and I’d never seen anything more perfect in my life.

When she came down, I turned it off and settled under the blankets. I gave her a moment to regain her bearings and mentally berated myself that she was so spent while I wasn’t there to take care of her.

We talked about her day for nearly an hour after. I kept the focus on her to avoid having to lie about what I’d spent my day doing.

Besides, who the fuck wanted to talk aboutmushroomsduring their post-orgasm bliss?

We shared a contagious yawn, but it was pretty evident that neither of us wanted to end the call.

So we didn’t.

We each put our phones on charge and fell asleep together, just like we had nearly every night since she allowed me the absolute pleasure of being able to call her mine.

INDIE

It was weird to think that everything just feltoffwithout Kiernan here. He hadn’t even been gone for two days, but going through the motions of those days was a struggle. I’d felt like there was a missing part to each morning and night even though we remained in regular contact.

Actually, it was probably not considered regular.

More like excessive.

But I preferred it that way, and he obviously did too.

Work had been blessedly slow. I’d had next to nothing to do, and I didn’t have to fill in for him or call him back early, which was the plan if he’d had an intake. There was only so much I could do as an assistant, and embalming was not on the list. That was the problem with owning a small family-owned funeral home where you were the sole mortician on staff. It was rare that he could spend days at a time away. Sammy never did. That was the main reason people lived in older, more traditional-style funeral homes. There always needed to be someone there if a call came in. Amelia had worked there long enough that she was comfortable house-sitting while he was away, and keeping both of us in the loop if anything did come up, but nothing did.

I was reshaping a paperclip at my desk when I heard the door open. There was only one other person who had access, which meant…

I stood just as Kiernan appeared in the frame of my office door.

“You’re back.” I grinned, rushing toward him for him to scoop me up in a bear hug. “I didn’t expect you’d be home until later tonight.”

He kissed the top of my head, breathing in the scent of me like he was starved for it. “I finished up early and wanted to surprise you.”

I pulled away from him and tipped my head back to get a good look at his face. I’d missed that face. He looked refreshed. Excited, even. I guess if mushroom farming made him this happy, I didn’t have to understand his nerdy little tendencies to be supportive of them. “Well. It was a nice little surprise.” I smiled.

“Actually.” He hoisted me up and carried me over to my desk, sitting my ass on the edge of it as he settled between my thighs, caging me in with an arm on either side of me. “I have an even bigger surprise.”

“Oh?”

“I may have lied a little about where I’ve been.”

I raised an eyebrow at him.Thank god, though.
