‘But I said for you guys to stay away,’ Logan laughed, high fiving with Eddie and Leo.

‘Like we wereevergoing to listen to that,’ Leo said, shaking his head in disbelief. ‘We’re brothers. We stick together like true family. Oh, and Cole?’

‘What?’ Cole snapped, still angry and looking ready to throw some punches.

‘You don’t know me, but I know you,’ Leo said, his voice firm and meaning serious business. ‘Or I should say, my personal investigator knows you. We’ve got proof that you druggedLogan. And we’ve also got evidence that you’ve been selling drugs on the side too.’

With that, Cole turned and made a run for it. His black two-seater was just across the road and he made it there before either Logan or his friends could give chase.

‘He won’t escape the police for long,’ Leo said. ‘It’s an open and shut case. It’s over, man. You can have your life back. The cops will put Cole away for a long time.’

‘Speaking of cops…’ Eddie said, the sound of police sirens in the distance and rapidly getting closer. ‘Looks like this location has been compromised. Time to bounce.’

As the whole crowd dispersed, Eddie and Leo quickly made their way to Eddie’s black Tesla.

Logan meanwhile jumped back into his car and revved the engine. It was time to find Stella and make everything right. Logan didn’t know whether Stella would take him back after he disappeared with no explanation, but Logan knew that he would give it his best shot to convince Stella that he truly loved her, and that he had changed once and for all.

Logan may have just won the biggest street race of his life, but now it was time for Logan to get to Stella in triple-quick time and tell her exactly how important she truly was.

I’m a Daddy to my core.

But not just any old Daddy Dom.

I’m Stella Streep’s Forever Daddy - and it’s time I made that crystal clear to the babygirl so she never doubts me again…

Chapter 17

Stella was struggling to get to sleep. It was perhaps no surprise given how badly her day had been, but Stella simply couldn’t control her thoughts for long enough to quieten them down and doze off to sleep.

To say Stella’s inability to drift off to Snoozetown was causing frustration would be an understatement…

‘Argh! Crappers!’ Stella shouted, tossing over from one side to the other and finally throwing her spare pillow out of the bed. ‘I give up!’

Stella hauled herself out of bed and walked over toward the soft white robe that was hanging from a hook next to the bedroom door.

It was the middle of the night and Stella hadn’t had a single second of sleep.

Having had a torrid previous few nights too, Stella was beginning to wonder whether she would ever have a satisfying night’s sleep again.

Being a healthy-living young lady, Stella knew all about how important sleep was to physical and mental health and couldn’t help but worry what the next day in work was going to be like if she was up all night.

Yesterday was a disaster.

Another day like that would be worse.

What am I going to do?

Stella walked out of her bedroom and into the living area.

Logan had been absent without leave for a few days and the place just didn’t seem the same without him.

Yes, it may have been tidier but Stella was even beginning to miss the sight of Logan’s black boots being left next to the kitchen worktop rather than in the shoe cage by the apartment door.

‘Okay. Okay. Think…’ Stella said, opening up the cupboard where she kept her selection of herbal teas. ‘I need something soothing… good for sleep… not too stimulating.’

Stella fingered her way through the various types of tea available to her and settled on a calming rose and chamomile tea that she had used to good effect a few months ago.

As she waited for the kettle to boil, Stella absentmindedly fiddled with the tea bag and tried as hard as she could to keep any worrying thoughts out of her mind.
