“You, or any other model that wants to participate.”
“How?”
“Are you sweaty? Can we control it to get the prosthetics on, or will you sweat and they fall off halfway through the night? Along with the sweat, will the paint I airbrush on you run, or clump, or stay smooth and in place? How much running around will you be doing once the makeup is done? Will you stand in one place, move around normally, or jump around and try to scare people. I don’t know what you have planned for your haunted house, or if it’s just going to be the bar here. I’ll have to factor all of that in.” She looked at him with a frown. “Did you watch that TV show I told you about?”
“Yes, and there were a lot of episodes when things didn’t work out, but they were able to get judged.” He turned to the others and explained which show they were talking about, and it actually shocked him that everyone had seen an episode or two.
“Right, I’m not competing for any money, but it is a grade. If things work out, then maybe I can pursue something like this as a career. I’m not saying I’ll move to Hollywood and be the next best make-up artist out there, but there are areas around here that I could lend a hand in doing makeup. Local theatres, summer camps for drama, things like that. Just because I like the dark arts, it doesn’t mean I can’t expand my horizons.” She looked around and saw she had their attention and nodded. “Anyway, there are a lot of things to factor in, and if you guys agree for me to do this, I know of three other people I can bringin to help. I may or may not have to bring my professor in, I’m not sure yet, but as I told Luc, I don’t believe outsiders needed to come to the church meeting to get your approval. I know it was hard enough for me to be here. I will not have them step on your toes. I will also tell them the rules from the beginning. If you’re willing to draw up an NDA for them to sign, then that will be one of the conditions I would put forth when I ask them to help me. I believe, but don’t quote me, but I believe that each of us can work on three people. The day of the event will be intense, but if we plan accordingly and have several practice runs, there shouldn’t be any problems.”
Starr stood there with an expectant expression as she watched the others look at each other.
“What do you mean by an NDA?” Hawk asked.
I’m not saying anyone is stupid, but you know what this means right?”
“Yes, a non-disclosure agreement.”
“Correct, I’m stating that if they overhear anything discussed by the members of Hell’s Coffin, they are not to repeat it. Nor are they allowed to talk about any behind the scenes things they hear or see.”
“This wouldn’t bother you, having your friends sign an NDA?”
“First, it’s not like these people are my best friends, or even people I’ve known for a long time. I only met them since starting the class in January. I have made several friends and we seem to be of like mind. I would only offer this opportunity to three, maybe four of them though.” She shrugged and looked at the others with a nod. “So, yeah, I wouldn’t have any issue of them signing an NDA agreement. I’ll be the first one to admit that I have no clue, nor is it any of my business what goes on behind closed doors here at Hell’s Coffin, but I want to keep you guys safe as well as us.” She saw them nod and breathed easier.
“Before we go forward, I have to tell you that I’m here to answer any questions you may have for me. If you approve, then I have to go back to my professor and tell him what I want to do with my project. I will ask him the rules about inviting others to help, whether it will affect our grades or not. I mean this because I came up with the idea, they didn’t. Oh, and remember this, if we go forward, each of us draw differently. What you see in my drawings, might not be what someone else sees.” That’s when she let go of the sketchbook she had a death grip on and laid it on the table and used one finger to push it toward the people sitting around.
“These are my designs I came up with for all of you, the patch holders, not the prospects or strikers, nor any of the women. This may be selfish of me, but I figured I’m only one person, and working on only one person will get me a grade, let alone all of you. I know not to bite off more than I can chew by trying to do the others.” She pointed to the book that still lay there.
“Luc said he only showed you what I had designed for him, besides the group picture of you guys all made up. Please, be careful, because that’s my only copy.” She stepped back and when they still wouldn’t open it, she looked at her brother in shock. He grinned as he stood, flipped the pages until they saw Bandit as he was every day, then as he transformed into a vampire.
“Holy shit,” Bandit said as he jumped to his feet and bent over the pages. It didn’t take long before the others looked at their own rendition of what Starr wanted to change them into, and by the time they were done, they looked at her with a nod.
“You’ll wait downstairs as we vote?”
“Yes, oh, this probably won’t be an issue, and I’m not saying you need to have a church meeting, but would it be okay if my professor, Professor Tiggs wants to come and talk to you about it? To prove that I’m not talking out my ass, and that I reallydo know a biker gang and will transform them for your haunted house on Halloween?”
“Yes,” they all answered, then Luc looked at her with his signature scowl. Starr was so used to it, it didn’t faze her.
“What?”
“Do you have other people to help with other things besides the makeup?”
“What do you mean?”
“Remember, this stays here, but we were thinking of having an actual coffin and I don’t know, maybe I, done up as Lucifer, will rise from it at the beginning of the night. We have already decided on a black and red theme, and we know we’ll be painting the front of the bar, and the rafters black. However, I don’t know about the other guys, but I have an idea in my head on how I want the walls to look, but I don’t really want to paint them red. This will be for only one night, and as much as I like Halloween, I don’t want the bar to look like, well, Hell’s Coffin, all year long.”
“I totally understand, and I can ask Professor Tiggs about that. If you agree to meet with him, if he wants to meet with you, that is, I’ll discuss this through texts with you, Luc. I’ll ask him if he knows of anyone who would like to do set designs. There may be only one hinderance to that?”
“Which is?” Again Luc raised his brow with his signature scowl.
“He may, don’t quote me on this, because he threw this out as an afterthought at the end of the class where he gave us the qualifications for this project, but he may want to come in and film the finished product. For future class references.”
“We’ll get back to you on that.”
“I thought so, but I’ll leave my sketchbook with you, I only ask that you bring it down with you when you’re done with your vote.” She quickly left, and made her way down to the bar to wait for her brother and his friends to join her. She didn’t havelong to wait. Fifteen minutes later, the men joined the rest of the people at the bar. Luc walked up to her, handed her the book, leaned in to hug her, and whispered in her ear.
“Yes.”
Starr looked at him with a gigantic grin, reached up and kissed him on the cheek in her excitement.
