“A bit of advice,” I offer, “go take a hot bath, then rub some ointment on it. It's in the medicine cabinet.”

“Yeah, thanks.” Before he walks out, he turns back, hand on the doorframe. “Think she’ll come around now? I think she’s got her revenge on all of us.”

I shake my head. “It’s not that simple when you don’t have emotions. We have to work to bring her back. I didn’t think I’d ever feel… but she brought it out in me. So, I know it’s possible. We have to work hard and not give up.”

“Makes sense. I'll never stop. I want my Pazessca back.”

I clap my hand on his back. “Me too, brother, me too.”

Chapter 23

Phoenyxx

It'stime to start going through the list of shit Augustine gave me. I’m tickled and giddy with excitement as I look at number one on the list: Kill Destiny. Fuck yes. This will be absolutely my pleasure.

Scanning further down, number two says to “take control of the student body”. Not a problem.

I check the time on my phone, and it’s almost lunchtime. Perfect. I can knock off one and two in one felled swoop.

I whistle as I practically skip over to the cafeteria. Opening the door, the usual smells hit my nose. Unfortunately, food will have to wait. Priorities and all.

I see Destiny in her usual spot, with her parrots. I go straight to her table, ignoring everyone else around me. I step up to her, tapping her on the shoulder.

She turns, shock on her face. “What the hell do you want? How are you even back here? You better know right now that Synn is mine. We're engaged. I'm just waiting on the ring.” She sniffs, raising her head in the air.

I see red and welcome the rush of rage. “Get up.” I order her.

She sees the look on my face, but throws her heads back, mocking me. “Sure, little whore. What are you going to do? You’re way outnumbered.” She stands; and has the audacity to shove me backwards.

I push forward, grabbing her blazer tightly. Destiny struggles, but can’t get out of my grip or shrug off her blazer. I slide my free hand to my chest, pulling the switchblade. I love this one. The sound it makes when it flicks open is satisfying.

I push her in front of me, and she stumbles. I open the blade, holding the cold metal to a strip of bare skin. “Move!”

I march her toward the center of the cafeteria. Heads turn toward us, and I make sure everyone is watching. The knife gleams when I hold it up to give them a good look at it. I spin her around to face me.

“Really?” she says haughtily, like she’s not afraid. “You’re not doing shit with that, bitch!”

I scan the room, heaving a sigh of relief when I see The Six are not there. Can't let them stop me now. I cock my head, straight-faced. I wait, knowing the idiot will try something.

Destiny lunges for me, swiping for the knife. I tut at her, yanking it out of her reach. I go for her, pushing it hard into her shoulder. She screams like a fucking siren. Way too loud.

I pull it out, and her legs buckle, falling to the floor. This is too perfect.

For the last time ever, I straddle her. I grip the blade, viciously bringing it down and stabbing Destiny in the chest. I twist the blade and pull it out fast. She gurgles, her own blood filling her lungs. Good.

I keep going, stabbing her over and over again until she falls still. I sit in place, and I grip her chin, staring as her eyes cloud over, and go dark.

I stand up and roar in victory before jumping onto the nearest table. “Attention everyone!” I yell, cupping my handsover my mouth to make sure everyone present hears me. I look from student to student. “I am now the one in charge! You will answer to me, and for anything you want or need, you will go through me to get it. I own this place now. And no one is allowed to go near The Six! Fall in line, or end up like Destiny!”

Gasps and outraged cries sound through the room. I look pointedly at Destiny's former group of idiots. I point the blade at them. “You girls understand me?”

They all stand, dipping their heads in obedience. Most excellent.

Before I can say something else, I'm dragged backwards off the table by a pair of muscular arms. “Malishka, what did you do?”

Ghost turns me in his arms. “You killed her? Fuck, I need to get you somewhere safe!”

“Don’t bother. I'm not getting in trouble. I've been assured of that,” I mutter softly, so he doesn’t hear that last part. Then I shove him away from me.
