“If you two are done making out,” Moss said. “We need to get you to the safe house.” Moss had completely dropped the casual persona that he had during the meeting and was ordering people around in a firm, controlling voice.

Another guy walked over and Enzo grimaced and pulled off his shirt, reminding Sean that he was bleeding considerably. “Fuck, I can’t believe you got shot.” Sean reached out and brushed his fingers over Enzo’s arm.

Enzo laughed. “I was in the military. I’ve been shot before.” He gave Sean one last kiss on the forehead before submitting to medical treatment.

“We need to get Blackstone and my sister into one of our safe houses. Joe, you’re driving. Enzo, you’re with them,” Moss said to the room. A man cleaned and stitched up Enzo’s arm in an efficient motion that Sean couldn’t bring himself to look too closely at. Enzo seemed unbothered, as though he had been stitched up like this before. Or perhaps he was too focused on the strangely intense eye contact he was holding with Sean.

Enzo reached out and squeezed Sean’s hand. “I’m all right, man.”

“Thanks for sharing.” Sean’s words were sarcastic, but he clung to Enzo’s hand. He couldn’t let go.

Enzo grinned and shrugged. “You looked worried.” Sean was definitely worried, but he felt like an idiot for it now that they had stepped away from each other. Enzo had acted like they were a couple. Enzo had fucking kissed him, and Sean wasn’t bisexual.

Moss walked back over, crossing his arms over his chest, and adopting an intimidating, wide-legged stance. “Sean, things escalated, and I need you and my sister in a safe house until we figure out the source of the attack and who it was aimed at. I’m not sure if you’re collateral damage or the target. Enzo, you’re with them. We have the police coming to investigate the scene, but we’re going to work faster than the police.”

“Sir, with all due respect—” Enzo started as they stood and started to follow Moss out.

Moss interrupted him. “With all due respect, my building was attacked, and I need my sister in a fucking safe place with my most trusted man right now. End of discussion.” Moss punched the button on the elevator and ushered them inside, and Sean stared at the bullet holes marring the clean, stainless steel walls. “To be clear, I am entrusting you both with the emotional health and the physical health of my sister.”

“We hurt her, you kill us. Noted.” Enzo grinned at that, but Sean wasn’t sure why. Moss seemed very capable of killing them.

Moss grinned back. “Precisely.”

“We’re not a couple,” Sean said. Moss deliberately glanced at where Sean was still holding Enzo’s hand. “I have to touch him somehow, okay?”

Moss laughed, shaking his head. “I don’t care if you two are in love. You’re an adorable couple.” Soon, they were all headed back to the elevator. India idly traced her fingers over the bullet holes in the back of the elevator wall, looking a little stunned. Moss joined them for the short elevator ride.

There was a van waiting right in front of the elevator door this time, and beyond that, the charred remains of Sean’s car were still smoking. There was debris everywhere, and the garage looked like a war zone.

“We secured the garage, but this van is bulletproof. Can never be too safe.” Moss pushed them into it and slammed the door in their faces, patted the roof, and they were in motion. Enzo shifted and settled India on Sean’s lap without an explanation. Sean’s arms automatically went around her, holding her tight, resting his lips against her forehead.

“So how fucked are we if India gets mad at us and tells Moss?” Sean asked.

“Sitting right here.” India wiggled and snuggled closer to him, her hand finding a place to rest on his stomach. Either she liked the snuggle, or she hadn’t yet recovered.

“So fucked. That man is a government-trained professional killer,” Enzo said, grinning. “And I like how you keep referring to us like that. Us.” Sean rolled his eyes.

“He won’t actually kill you. Probably,” India said.

“I’m not exactly sure I get the plan with the safe house?” Sean asked. Enzo quirked his lips at him, and Sean buried all the emotions Enzo’s sexiness gave him.

“Moss is having a panic attack,” India said. “It’s best to go with it. Fighting Moss when he’s in this mode is like boxing with a rhinoceros.” That statement made Enzo laugh. “Also, why is your hand on my ass, Sean? Come to think of it, why am I in Sean’s lap at all?”

Enzo’s wicked grin was back. “He’s in shock, so he needed a cuddle toy.” She didn’t argue with that, and so Sean refused to move his hand from her ass. That was where it belonged. In fact, he adjusted it a little and slid his fingers under the elastic of her panties to more fully grip her ass. For reasons he would puzzle about later, he lifted her skirt so that Enzo could see what he was doing. Enzo’s eyes darkened. He knew that if he had any good sense, he would stay away from these crazy people, but he couldn’t seem to.

“I’ll move my hand if you want me to move my hand,” Sean said, squeezing gently.

She sighed. “Fine, leave your hand there. There will be no spanking, though. None. Zero.”

“Unless you’re spanking us. Or I’m spanking our boy,” Enzo said, and a shudder ran down Sean’s spine.

“Our boy?” India said, shifting in Sean’s lap. “And I prefer a flogger. Spanking sort of hurts my hand.”

Enzo grinned. “I’m a switch. You’re a domme. Sean is about to discover he’s a sweet little subby who serves us both.”

India rolled her eyes. “Sean thinks he’s a dom.”

“Sitting right here,” Sean muttered. He pulled her closer and buried his face in her hair.
