“Where are we going?” I ask while following his lead.
He glances at me from the corner of his eye, and I just know he’s up to no good. “You’ll see.”
“You’ll see” has been Sebastian’s phrase of the day. He’s been pulling out the surprises left and right all afternoon, and I’m not sure I like it. It’s almost like he has something up his sleeve, and I will find out what it is.
It started this morning with the epic fucking of all fuckings, and while I expected that because, let’s be real, it’s Sebastian Brooks we’re talking about here, I didn’t expect for him to tell me to get up and get dressed because he had the day planned for us.
Once I was coherent enough to form a full sentence, I went into our closet where Sebastian had the most beautiful dress picked out, along with a new jacket and new high-heeled booties. As I was slipping into the outfit, he came walking in, looking as handsome as he possibly could in a formfitting button-down and slacks.
Lucky for him, I ended up tearing his clothes off one more time before we made it out of the house. From there, we headed to 5thAvenue to do some shopping and grabbed lunch in Bryant Park afterward.
We spent the day doing normal things that normal couples do, and it couldn’t have made me happier. I never thought Sebastian and I would be “normal” after the hellish beginning we had. If someone had told me I would have ended up head over heels in love with Sebastian Brooks that first day I walked into Midtown, I would have laughed in their face, but how wrong I was.
Because he’s everything to me now.
The thought of him hurting, hurts me.
I would do anything for him.
“Sebastian, if you don’t tell me where we’re going, I’m going to hurt you,” I joke, giving his hand a small squeeze.
“Patience, princess. We’re almost there.”
After we shuffle through the crowds, our destination appears in front of me full force. Stopping us in our tracks, I look toward Sebastian, raising my brow. “The hotel?”
The smile that spreads over his face is the most adorable thing I’ve ever seen. He looks so damn proud of himself for surprising me.
“What better place to end our day than where it all started?” He grins.
As we approach the entrance, the doorman who looks incredibly familiar, smiles at us. “How are you this evening?”
“We’re well. Thank you,” Sebastian answers, as I stare at the same doorman from the night Sebastian and I met.
It’s as if it dawns on him as well, because the older gentleman looks between us, smiling from ear to ear. “You two have been here before, haven’t you?”
A small blush spreads over my cheeks as Sebastian nods. “Yeah. Actually, we met for the first time here.”
“I have this uncanny ability to remember faces,” he replies, tapping his temple. “What brings you back today?”
Sebastian smiles once more at the man. “We’re celebrating.”
“Celebrating what?” I ask, but Sebastian ignores me and walks me inside the building.
“Sebastian,” I call, following his lead. “What are we celebrating?”
“You’ll see.”
He has my head rolling with confusion as we walk past the bar area toward a back room. When he reaches for the doorknob, I hold my breath in anticipation, because what can we possibly be celebrating? Is it our anniversary and I forgot?Shit.
He cracks the door open, turns to me, and with the most serious tone, he says, “I love you more than anything, Devin. You know that, right?”
I nod, almost stunned by the sudden change in his demeanor. “I love you too, Sebastian. What’s going on?”
He ignores my question, opening the door instead, and what stands on the other side almost knocks me off my feet.
“Surprise!” The voices all collide, merging together and making my head spin.
Standing inside the room is all of our friends and family, and I have no damn clue why any of them are here.
