I would laugh, but she nearly cuts off my air supply with how tightly she hugs me—and not in the good way. “Can’t. Breathe,” I wheeze, tapping her back in warning.
She retreats, but only enough to hold me at arm’s length and give me a quick once over. “You good?” The question is directed at me, but she’s looking atthemas she asks it.
“I’mfine,”I stress, throwing in a soft laugh for good measure.
“What happened to you?” Frankie pipes up, prompting Audrey to move aside.
“Do you not remember the warning?” I quip, leaning my weight against the counter as she gives me a more thorough inspection, her auburn brow hiking into a perfect arch as she clocks the slightly disheveled state of my appearance.
“If the walls shift and your party is scattered, do not turn back. The manor favors those who move forward…”that comes from Ghost, who, I can see from the corner my eye, is now at his rightful place behind the counter.
Jason, too, the deep baritone of his voice renting the air next. “We wanted to see if you’d follow the rules and keep going, so we grabbed Raven as you went into the cellar.”
It’s barely noticeable to those who don’t know her well, but I don’t miss the way Frankie’s eyes narrow just slightly as she crosses her arms.“Riiight…And where’d you take her after?”
Audrey pins me with her gaze, holding it for a beat or two, before flicking it over to the guys in question.
Ghost shrugs nonchalantly and mimics Frankie’s stance. “Just showed her around the other rooms. Save for your group, the place was empty. Figured that would be more fun than just having her sit here and wait for you to finish.”
A good fuckandquick on his feet. Thank God.
Not that I plan to keep my little spooky rendezvous a secret until the end of time, but I’d like to make it out of the building first. They don’t need to hear me gushing about how good theywere. Men in general have big enough egos as it is. Pleased with his response, I turn back to the girls, the corner of my mouth twitching with a smirk.
“So is that when you ruined your fishnets?” Nina questions.
Fuck, I forgot about those…
“Honestly,” I start, pushing off the counter to collect my stuff from the nearby lockers. “I don’t even know when it happened. One second they were fine, and the next they were?—”
“Magically ripped between your legs?” Audrey interjects, again in that full-on mom tone.
I slip on the bat ears first, hitching my shoulders as blasé as I can manage. “What can I say? Chub rub is real. They’re old and probably started fraying on the walk over. Hell, I’m pretty sure there was a small hole when I put them on earlier tonight.”
“They were definitely already like that when we grabbed her,” Jason concedes, and when I glance over at him in thanks, I realize he’s removed his mask.
Ghost, too.
My jaw nearly tumbles to the floor, the girls right along with me.
They’re…beautiful. Ghost is all dark hair and ice blue eyes, the sweat-slicked strands stroking his cheek, whereas Jason is buzzed short, his eyes like twin pools of creamy milk chocolate. My clit pulses as if they hadn’t just made me come harder than a freight train, a second time when I note there’s ink creeping up their necks, leaving me to wonder where else it extends. It’s not until matching smirks play on their lips that I blink away the lust and slip on my bat wings, completely fucking mindblown.
Eventually, we say our goodbyes and leave the guys to close up shop. The door hasn’t even closed all the way when Audrey loops her arm through mine and yanks me down the sidewalk.
“You fucked them, didn’t you?”
I snort a laugh, but nod regardless, a shit-eating grin splitting my face in two. “Oh, I so fucked them, and it was better than a pail full of candy. Happy Halloween to meee.”
