“Okay.” I nod.
“Let’s get out of here and head over to the compound for the day, okay?”
“Yeah.” A smile finds my face. “Yeah, I think I’d like that.
Finishing my coffee, I head upstairs to get dressed before hopping on the back of Gavin’s bike.
As we zip down the coast, I can’t help but smile, a giddy feeling washing over me. The scent of home hits me right in the gut, replacing a bit of the unease I was feeling before.
“There she is!” Slim Jim cheers from the front step of the club. “I’ve missed you.”
Laughing, I climb off the bike and head over to the twins' dad. “Hey, Jim.” I laugh, letting the older man pull me in for a hug. “I missed you, too.”
“It’s about damn time the three of you got your asses back here.”
“You knew how long we were gonna be,” Brady chuckles.
“Still. This place isn’t the same without you. Plus, our bikes keep breaking down because Bobby can’t do fuck-all in that shop of yours.”
“Bobby does amazing work, and you know it,” Gavin laughs. “You're just sour we were gone.”
“Watch it, boy,” Jim warns.
“Look,” I say, getting his attention. He looks down at me, and I show him my neck. “See anything new?”
“Well, I’ll be damned!” Jim says before whooping in glee. “My boys have gone and marked up their Old Lady. About damn time.”
“Yeah.” I smile over at my Alphas. “About damn time.”
We head inside to have a drink. The rest of the day, I’m greeted by club members and their women, even some of the sweetbutts are happy to see me.
I can’t help but feel like I’m home. Where I need to be. And that makes me feel sick because Ally isn’t here. Liam isn’t here. The pack isn’t complete.
The more the day goes on, the more I wonder if two packs from completely different worlds can make it work.
How did I go from feeling like I was on top of the world to feeling homesick?
Just talk to Ally. Tell her how you feel. She loves you. She will make sure we do whatever we can so everyone is happy.Maybe we can convince Ally to move to the compound while she’s not touring, like a compromise.
As soon as that idea settles, I start to feel better. I think that could work.
“Hey, isn’t that your girl, Brady?” Slim Jim asks, pointing to the TV.
We’re in the middle of a game of pool when we look up to see Ally on the TV. No, not just the TV, the news.
“Turn it up,” Brady demands.
“Ally!” someone screams. “Ally Cat. Is it true about the identity of your pack?”
“Is your bodyguard, Liam, really one of your Alphas? Are you aware of his past? Are you aware that his old pack kidnapped an Omega?”
My heart sinks as my knees wobble, threatening to give out. No.No, no, no. This can not be happening.
“Liam, how do you feel about finally having an Omega? Is she your scent match? Or did you kidnap her, too?”
“What the fuck!” Brady growls, throwing his pool cue.
Liam starts shouting at the press to get back as he tries to cover Ally.
