“When you find the one
You hold on tight…”
“Not happening!” Allie growls as she runs off to the kitchen, and we run after her, singing loudly, no longer bothered if someone hears us.
“Cause you don’t wanna miss even one little kiss
And you couldn’t sleep, anyway
When you fall in love-”
We both come to an abrupt stop when we reach the kitchen, which is not empty.
Oh gods.
My entire body heats up as I find myself staring at the group of boys in the kitchen. My heart thunders loudly, my face burning hot as I single out Ahren and try to control my emotions, knowing if I look at anyone else, I’ll die on this very spot.
I hear someone laughing as Ahren’s attention snaps to Heaven. “Cover yourself,” he says in Arabic. His voice is light and casual, and unless you know the language, you wouldn’t have gotten what he said.
Dad and Jaddati were very big on our education. From a young age, the four of us have studied several languages, and we are fluent in them, too. Ahren and I know a couple more than Heaven and Tatum, but they still have nine besides English under their belts.
Heaven pouts, smoothly spinning, wrapping her satin robe around her and striding to the fridge. “What are you lot doing here?” Allie asks.
The smell of pizza reaches my nose, and I look around, realising they’re grabbing drinks, but I can’t see any pizza.
“We got pizza. Want some?” Renji asks as he now enters the kitchen, earning a frown from Ares.
“I think they’re doing their own thing,” Tatum remarks, raising an eyebrow.
Point made. They don’t want us here either.
“Yeah, we’re just here for hot chocolate. No, thank you,” I say quickly until Renji puts an arm around my shoulder.
“Oh, come on. How about this, we give you pizza, you make us hot drinks? We’re about to watch a movie?” He winks at me, and I can’t help but smile.
He’s the only one who doesn’t scare me.
“I’ll pass. I don’t need girls screaming their heads off because they can’t handle a bit of blood.” My heart thuds as Jayce’s voice comes from behind me.
“Oh, you did not just say that,” Allie growls. “We want pizza and we’re watching the movie.”
“Move,” Jayce commands, his voice so icy, forcing me to jump away from Renji and the doorway, making the youngest Westwood look at his brother in amusement.
My stomach plummets. Is he finding this funny?
Jayce pushes past him, his eyes simmering blue, and my heart sinks. Gods, he’s really angry…
I look at Heaven, who looks a bit uncertain, then at Allie, who is glaring at Jayce without even an ounce of fear, and Ahren, who simply gives me a small smile.
He’s letting us choose… he doesn’t mind.
So, I bravely turn. I’m probably going to pay for this back at school, and I’m ready to say:Yeah, pizza sounds great, what’s a movie in comparison to real life? But one glance into those cold, piercing, glowing, blue eyes that are full of rage, and I swallow my words and look away.
“You girls carry on, I’m going to grab my hot chocolate and head to bed,” I say, smiling at the girls.
Allie frowns, and Heaven observes me.
“No, I have a better idea, I’ll go get us some pizza and we’ll take it upstairs,” Allie says, leaving the room.
