“It’s always a possibility,” Connor tells us. “I’ll keep working on my end to find a connection between everyone, but it will take me a while—if it’s even feasible.”

“Isabelle and I will see what else we can learn on this end,” Jayden tells him. “But we’re going to need more manpower. Someone who can interact with the staff without drawing any attention.”

“I’ll let Liam know. But whoever joins you will need to be hired as a resort employee, so they can uncover intel you won’t be able to as a guest.”

“That won’t be a problem,” I explain. “The resort owner will hire him if it means finding out what’s going on.”

“I wouldn’t tell him about the potential KGB link,” Connor says. “That might make him jittery and set off alarms for whoever is responsible.”

“Good idea.”

“All right. I’ll inform you if I find anything else.” Connor ends the call.

I grin at Jayden—because things are about to get more interesting.

* * *

All right, when I said several hours ago that things were going to get more interesting, I didn’t mean the dilemma I’m now facing.…

“Sooo…which side of the bed do you want?” I ask Jayden as he exits the bathroom, his arm still in its sling. He’s wearing his black boxer briefs—and only his black boxer briefs.

Beads of water glisten on his naked chest.

Damn it. No one has the right to be that sexy.

My gaze flicks to the ceiling. It’s a lovely ceiling…as ceilings go.

Okay, it’s a boring ceiling, but at least the sight of it doesn’t leave my lady bits humming with possibility.

I’m standing on the left side of the bed—my preferred side—in nothing more than my black satin cami set.

I clearly didn’t think that one through—no more than Jayden did when it came to his sexy underwear.

But really, what difference does it make? Jayden doesn’t see me as anything more than his friend. Sexy sleepwear, flannel PJs, it’s all the same to him when it comes to what I’m wearing.

Jayden’s gaze skims down my cami set, and his warm chocolate eyes go dark. “I’ll take the right side.”

“Perfect.” I pull back the covers.

“What happened to the barricade?”

“I didn’t think we needed it.”

He’s already admitted he’s not a cuddler, and I’m sure I’m not going to wake up in the middle of the night with my arms around him.

Well, I’m pretty sure my arms won’t be around him.

Jayden studies the bed for a moment, then me, and then the bed again. “I sleep naked.”

Yeah, that wasn’t what I needed to hear. Now I’ve got the image in my head of a naked Jayden sleeping next to me.

I grab the small red-and-aqua cushions from the bed and the armchair and arrange them in a single line down the center of the bed.

Not that they provide much of a barrier.

They’re more decorative than anything.

Jayden laughs. “Are you worried that you won’t be able to keep your hands off me?”
