How am I going to find two humans in all this mess?

“Focus,” I mumble to myself as I circle the station. “Just one thing at a time.” And right now that one thing is finding a place to dock.

There is so much space junk that it’s hard to tell what is coming from the station and what is just in free float. The closer I get, the more telltaleplinksof some of that junk bouncing off the hull of theShade I hear.None of it is big enough to do any kind of damage, but I can’t help flinching each time I hear it.

I’ve circled the entire complex twice when I finally come across an airlock.

Taking a deep breath, I sit up straighter in my seat. I focus all my energy on docking, and then making sure she’s locked up tight, before making my way into the pleasure house.

I haven’t even reached the main complex, and already I can feel the crawling sensation of unsavory eyes on me. After my heat, or maybe because of it, everything seems so much more sensitive. Like I can feel the very thoughts around me, like fingers brushing at me, making my skin crawl with revulsion.

Keeping my shoulders back and my head high, I try to exude as muchdon’t fuck with meas I can muster, in addition to the knowledge that I have a small arsenal of weapons strapped to my body. I make my way through the maze of hallways, staying far away from any offshoots or alcoves I could be pulled into.

Get in. Find where the humans are. Get out.

That’s my job. That’s all I need to do right now. Then I’ll get Brox and contact Rovos for their extraction.

Entering the main complex of Kurrahstka’s house is an experience I can’t wait to put behind me. As soon as the building opens up, I’m bombarded with all things sex. Females and males alike. Graphic displays of sex are everywhere I look, advertising what is readily available for purchase within these walls. Which, is to say, everything that isn’t outright illegal. From the way he’s not afraid to toe that line, I suspect thatillegalis available for a price as well.

I have to force my expression to stay neutral, instead of one of disgust, as I walk past rows of glass booths that line the concourse. The booths are open for all to see, an exhibitionist’s wet dream, with a sex-droid in each one, getting railed by eager customers.

Pushing my way through the long lines waiting for their turn, I finally come to a bank of kiosks advertising what the house has to offer as well as where to find it. Flexing my fingers, I type out HUMAN. I am not prepared for the influx of names that start scrolling across the screen.

Hmm. I suppose I shouldn’t be surprised that humans are a popular tag when it comes to sex. Pulling my bottom lip between my teeth, I gently worry it as I start typing in different keywords, all of which give me far too many options and make it impossible to whittle the selections down to the two human females I’m looking for.

Letting out a frustrated sigh, I clear out the search. That is when I notice there is a link torecent additions.I click on that and—now we’re getting somewhere.

The list is much shorter, with images next to each pop-up. That is, all but two.

I quickly highlight the two without images and…surprise, they are both located in the same wing. I quickly scan a map to my comm and clear out my search once more. According to the map, they are located at one of the uppermost floors of the house.

Why are important things always kept high up?I wonder as I make my way to a bank of lifts. I’ve always thought that a more centralized position would be easier to defend. Although, really nothing is off-limits with enough determination.

I manage a lift all to myself and make it all the way to the uppermost floor without incident, which has my stomach clenching with nerves. If something turns out to be too easy, it’s often set up like that purposely.

Get in. Find the humans. Get out.

The doors slide open, and I step out into a dark lobby. The air is scented with a musky incense, and I wrinkle my nose. Considering this is likely the best Kurrahstka has to offer, the room has certainly seen better days. The upholstery is ripped and torn in various places on almost every seat I can see. A thick coating of dust, probably from the smokey incense perfuming the air, coats every smooth surface. At the far side of the room, a lone female sits at a tall desk. Even she looks worn and used, although when she looks up, her eyes are sharp and bright.

“Can I help you?” she asks as her lips curl up into a sneer.

Notching my chin up a little higher, I stride up to her desk and look down my nose at her. Even with her sitting at the raised desk, I’m several inches taller than she is. “I want two females. For the night.”

“Yes, of course,” she mutters, sniffing her little snub nose and straightening her shoulders as if she has something to prove to me. Then she pushes a tablet across the counter at me. “These are our available girls.”

Using the very tip of my finger, not wanting to know who or what has touched the screen before me, I quickly scroll through the list and shake my head. “No, none of these.” I shove the tablet back at her. “The kiosk showed twonewfemales. I want them.”

Confusion wrinkles the female’s face, but then her eyes widen in surprise and maybe a little panic. I’m definitely in the right place.

“Oh. Uh, they aren’t available yet.”

“They were on the kiosk. That’s what I want,” I insist, now even more certain those two are the females I’m looking for. The question is how far do I take this charade?

“And I’m telling you they aren’t available,” she snaps at me.

“What do I need to do tomakethem available?” I lean down until my face is hovering just above hers.

Suddenly her eyes flick to the side, and a look of relief relaxes her face. At the same time, a slow chill works its way up my spine.
