I Must Kill Nine Massively Powerful Supernaturals. No big deal.

I stare down at the list of names.

Names of people I am going to kill.

I still don’t know how I feel about that.

Part of me is terrified that I’ll fail. Scared that I will have to kill people and what that means about me as a person.

But another part of me, deep down, is thrilled.

I feel powerful, knowing that I can and will do this.

I will free my sister from the Cosmic Council and ensure they never harm another low-magic being ever again.

The first name is, surprisingly, Emily.

What a basic name. I had a frenemy named Emily a few years ago. She thought stealing my boyfriend made her somehow more valuable than me. I proved her wrong by training for a month in her position on the field hockey team. She went to second string and—shocker—the boy, whose name I can’t even remember now, dumped her for someone else in the same week.

My favorite tactic in the human world was showing how much their power moves didn’t affect me. I didn’t kill them with kindness. I didn’t get even. I just built up my strength in ways they didn’t see coming.

Emily, my new enemy, is from a long-hidden line of sphinxes. She has psychic powers, as well as strong spell magic.

I know exactly how I want to destroy Vincent Vandozer. For the rest, I’ll have to do specific research to make sure my planned spells and potions will work as intended on them, and that they won’t see it coming with stupid abilities like mind reading.

Before the sun sets, I have a book on each of these species. I also have a list of my current potions. I’ll have to double-check their affected species.

This is a lot more complicated now that I have multiple creatures to fight and they’re not simple witches or wolf shifters. These are some of the most powerful beings in the known universe.

I barely sleep the next three days, studying more and more about these creatures. And the thing that sucks the most is that, if anything goes wrong at all, I’ll have to start over. They can just be replaced with a new powerful supernatural.

Even when I’m not researching potions or these beings I intend to kill, I’m daydreaming about that moment. Each one, I picture gagging and foaming at the mouth, begging for my mercy.
