Titan picked up his hind leg before the bones were smashed.

In that one tiny moment when the buffalo had hit the wall and was not bouncing around, Titan stood immediately and spun his razor-sharp claws fast, digging deep into the vulnerable neck skin and shredding muscle. The buffalo howled in pain, jerking its head up and around, so desperate to get free of the wolf attacking its neck that it lost battle focus.

That’s all Titan needed to finish ravaging its neck until the head flopped forward and blood spewed.

You got it, Titan.Bosse was so proud, but their worst injury bled in a faster stream. They needed to get out of here and to the cage where Titan could lay down and slow his heart. Stop the bleeding.

As the buffalo fell over on its side, Titan stumbled off its back before getting caught beneath that mountain of animal. He headed slowly for the exit door that would lead to their cage. If he moved any faster, he’d stumble, fall, and not get back up.

The steel bar door wasn’t open.

Titan turned his head to look over his shoulder, allowing Bosse to see the alpha sitting high above them. Krol looked sick. Not happy at losing his new pet, huh? Maybe that would stop the maniac from turning his flying creature loose on Titan.

Krol might not have realized that Bosse feared whatever that bird did to paralyze the sheep.

Standing, Krol’s eyes flamed bright with retribution.

What? Did he think Bosse and Titan had been unfair with the buffalo? They gave it an honorable fight and a quick death.

Krol’s hands were fisted and shaking. He struggled to talk for a moment, then spoke in a dangerously low voice. “You will not always win. The day will come when you have no choice but to lose, and I will be there to see it.”

Bosse spoke to his wolf.Face Krol and sit like a puppy.

No questions asked, Titan stepped around carefully and sat with his head tilted up at Krol.

That made the alpha king crazy. He screamed, “Get out of my arena!”

The arena door opened. Titan stood and calmly walked through.

Bosse could feel the agony his wolf suffered as he acted as though he could fight another battle right now. Hopefully, Titan could make it to the cage without passing out.

Titan complimented Bosse.Good move. Pussy does not know how much damage we suffered.

Not as lighthearted at the moment, Bosse said,It worked this time. We may not get a second chance to use it. Give me the body, and I will try to stop the blood.

Bosse’s eyes crossed at the pain of shifting, but in the next moment, he stood with a hand against the wall.

“Keep moving,” a guard shouted.

Another one said, “No. Wait up.”

What could those idiots be doing now?

Cold water crashed over Bosse’s head and back. He sucked in a breath just as a second one was thrown at his front from the side.

“Krol doesn’t like blood in this area, and I’m not cleaning up anymore today,” the guard with the bucket shouted.

Drawing in a deep breath to tamp down on his urge to rip all of them to pieces, Bosse used both hands to wipe water off his face and shove his hair back. “Assholes.”

“What’d you say?”

He started walking toward the cage area, refusing to answer. Stars ran through his gaze. He was getting lightheaded from the blood loss.

By the time he reached his cage, he was dry. His bowl was not in the cage. “I need water.”

“So?”

“If I die from dehydration, Krol won’t be happy.”
