These women drove him nuts. He might never want a mate.
He finished pulling Alifair into a sitting position and tying her wrists to a stone column used to hold up the ceiling.
She had some kind of magic but likely was no threat with her hands tied above her head to the support beam, or she’d have tried to use her magic on him by now.
Zuzani had better make him a great offer for two gifted women.
If not, he’d kill them both before he left.
Chapter 43
“Alifair.”
“Hmm?” Alifair’s head throbbed. Had a tractor-trailer run her over?
“Alifair!” hissed at her.
Opening her eyes had been a mistake. Her head spun even more. She wanted to throw up but realized her hands were tied above her head. Throwing up would be a bad idea as she couldn’t lean over and keep the gunk off her.
“Do you hear me?”
“Yes,” Alifair snapped. “Stop shouting.”
No one said a word.
Crap. That had been unkind of her, but her head and stomach felt as if she were suffering the worst hangover ever. She rarely drank anything and never overindulged.
Opening her eyes really wide, she blinked hard a few times and tried to focus. Dark room that smelled like... yuk.Don’t think about it and breathe through my mouth.
When her eyes adjusted to the poor lighting aided only by a smidgen of daylight meandering in through a doorway, she made out two shapes.
Rez and Magdelina stared at her as if she were naked.
“What?” That sounded snippy even to Alifair’s ears. “Sorry, I’m trying to get my brain working again.”
“Good,” Rez said. “It must not be functioning well for you to be here.”
