I leaned away from him, putting my hands up against his chest. Good lord, what a mistake! The hard muscles of his torso felt like heated steel beneath my fingertips. I shook my head and glared up at him. “Ease up with the sexual tension, will ya? I thought you were going to be on your best behavior.”

A devilish grin pulled at his lips. “The key word wasmaybe. No promises were made.” Dante sat on the edge of the bed and pulled me to him. The hand on my back led an electrifying trail down my spine, before his fingers dipped beneath the waist of my skirt, just above my ass. “What happens if I misbehave?”

In the corner of my mind, the sensible part of me was fighting for her fucking life. I knew I should push him away. Untangle myself from his upsettingly temping arms and go dunk my butt in a pile of snow until my pussy remembered who was in charge.

When I didn’t pull away, Dante hooked a hand behind my thigh and tugged until I straddled his lap. “Come here,” he whispered, before grabbing the back of my neck and pulling me in for a kiss. His mouth teased my lips apart, while warm hands slid the coat from my body to trace the outline of my curves. Once again, his palm travelled slowly down my back, finally dipping beneath my skirt to cup the pliant weight of my ass.

Trembling hands gripped his shoulders as I tried desperately to regain my senses. “Wait, maybe we should slow down?”

His lips curved against my neck. “The taste of your cunt on my tongue is burned into my memory like a brand, and you ask me to slow down? My princess is a cruel little thing.” Heat flooded my lower belly as he gave a playful nip at my collarbone.

I whimpered as the warmth of his breath teased the top of my breasts. My nipples hardened, and I would have given anything to have his mouth travel just a little lower.

“Just for tonight,” he rasped. The playfulness bled from his voice, leaving something hungry and hot and its wake.

“What?”

“Let me take care of you tonight. In the morning we can go back to slow and careful. Grant me this and I swear to you that I’ll drink from your cunt until your legs shake. I want your voice hoarse from screaming my name. Use me. Punish me if you must. Give me a taste of what it feels like to sink into my princess and I’ll worship you until you beg me to stop.”

I cried out as a finger slid against my slit, coating itself in my juices. I muffled a gasp into his shoulder as my skin burned at his touch. “Why do you have to feel so fucking good?”

That damnable finger dipped inside, and I ground against it as if possessed. “Say yes, Cherry.” The heat in his voice nearly caused me to come undone.

Just before the submission could leave my lips, something moved outside the window. I peeked around him to see a shadowy horned figure staring at us. I leapt up with a scream, my back hitting the wall behind me as I scrambled away.

Dante shot up immediately and whirled around. Fire engulfed his arms as he poised to strike. “What’s wrong?”

I pointed a shaking hand toward the window. “There’s something watching us!”

He caught sight of the large head before his shoulders relaxed on a sigh. “It’s a moose.”

“What the fuck is a moose?” I asked, flatting myself against the wall.

“A terrible interruption, apparently.”

“Dante, I’m serious, what the hell is that thing? Some kind of demon deer?” Without waiting for a response, I raced to the pack to grabThe Book Of Beastsand held it near the creature. And by near, I mean safely behind my dragon-shifter bodyguard.

He clicked his tongue as he glanced back at the creature. “Demon, no. Though I suppose you could say it’s related to a deer.”

When the book didn’t start its signature glow, I took a tentative step closer. “Why isn’t the book recording it?”

Dante chuckled and sat back on the bed. “The Book Of Beastswas created to catalog the different magic beasts that roam the land. That is no magic beast, that is a moose.”

“But it’s huge!” I yelled. “It looks like some evil wizard mashed together a few deer then melted its face.”

“The moose has feelings, Cherry,” he said dryly.

“Well… why is it just peeking into the window like some kind of stalker?”

“I imagine it’s curious as to why the strange woman on the other side started screaming at him.”

“You are very catty,” I snapped.

“And you are petrified of snow and a moose.”

“I am not petrified, I just didn’t know what they were!”

“And yet, you chase after a phoenix and marvel at the bones of a hydra. I’m starting to have serious concerns over your ability to process danger.”
