“How did you get home?” I ask, remembering I was their ride, and I had my keys with me.

“RaRa offered us a ride. He and Eric were all over each other last night after you left.” She flips her hair over her shoulder. “Now, why were you in such a hurry to get home? Was Spike a dick this morning or something?”

I shift uncomfortably. “Not exactly.”

“You’re being very evasive.”

“Ugh.” I cover my face with my hands. Megan pulls them away and stares into my eyes, concern marring her face. “It’s not like that. I think I might’ve done the wrong thing… but we agreed. It’s not like he di?—”

Megan holds her hands up. “Whoa, back up a minute. What are you talking about? What did you do?”

I jump to my feet and pace back and forth in front of the couch. “I left.”

“Obviously, you’re standing right here.”

“You don’t understand,” I say with a shake of my head. “I left him in the bed. I snuck out like a thief in the night… or morning.”

“Hold on.” Megan reaches out and grasps my wrist. I halt my steps as she pulls me back down. “Let me get this straight. You did the horizontal tango with Mr. Sexy-as-fuck Biker, spent thenight with him, and left without saying ‘thanks for the orgasms’? Or was he so terrible in bed you didn’t want to face him?”

“Nothing like that.” I toss a pillow at her. “That was probably the best sex I’ve ever had.”

“Then what gives with the disappearing act?”

“It was a dare. A one-night stand.”

“So, that means you couldn’t say goodbye?”

“No strings attached… no commitment. We agreed.”

“And yet you sit here, worried about doing something wrong by sneaking away?” Megan asks. “Help me understand. Do you like him?”

Do I like him?

No. No way could I have feelings for someone after one night of mind-blowing orgasms. I don’t even know him.

“It was sex, a release.”

“You’re avoiding my question,” Megan teases.

“No, I don’t even know him,” I protest.

“But you’d like to,” Megan counters.

I sigh. “It doesn’t matter. Nothing will ever come of it. Sure, the sex was amazing, but that doesn’t mean we’re destined to be together.”

“It could, though.”

I shake my head in denial. “No, Megan, it couldn’t. He’s a biker, for fuck’s sake.”

“What does that have to do with anything?”

“Bikers are not monogamous. They cheat. They’re not faithful. I can’t be with someone like that. I need stability.”

“I didn’t get that vibe from the other bikers there. They really seemed enamored with their woman.”

“Spike overheard a conversation between all of us and dared me. He has Playboy written all over him. No one can be that good in bed and not have tons of women he’s practiced on.”

“That’s not fair, Ivory,” Megan protests. “You should give him a chance if he wants one. It’s not like you were a virgin before jumping into bed with him.”
