The look Lachlan gives him–both heady and curious–sears itself into my mind. I’m honored to be a part of whatever happened tonight, but this whole thing was huge for Lachlan. Sure, he might’ve shared me with the others that first night, but he’s never admitted to being turned on.

But the look he’s giving Otto?

It feels like everything suddenly clicks into place.

The other Princes.

Lachlan.

Our soft takeover next week.

I laugh as Otto falls on the bed next to me, and Lachlan cleans me up before joining me on the other side.

And when Lachlan makes me use the restroom before pulling me against his chest, I can barely swallow past the knot forming in my throat.

Family.

They are my family now.

And despite how much I resisted this life–despite the revenge I was so set on–I am so fucking grateful the universe gave me these men.

CHAPTER 37

Max

One Week Later

Me: Everything’s fine. Go drink a mojito or something.

Harlow: I know, I know. And Edith? Is she okay?

Me: She’s fine. Cecelia is here, and so is Archie. Still blows my mind that you had a little brother this whole time and you never said anything. He’s a cool little dude.

Harlow: *laugh face emoji*

Harlow: Okay. I’ll stop checking in. You know where we are if you need us.

Me: Go. Relax. Don’t text me again. We have everything covered.

Harlow: Fine.

Harlow: That doesn’t count. I just have to have the last word.

Smirking, I set my phone down at my desk and walk over to Lottie, who is bent over her screen with furrowed brows.

“Morning, darling. You’re here early.”

“I couldn’t sleep.”

“Mmm,” I murmur, sliding a hand to the back of her neck. “I know how to tire you out.”

She scoffs but doesn’t look at me. “Have you seen this? I forwarded you the spreadsheet earlier. Their name is Obsidian. They’re based in Hong Kong. Unlike Citadel, they never wreak havoc in person, but they have shut down the entire American government system. Twice.”

“Yeah, I’ve heard of them. Fucking bastards stole a bunch of credit card information from retirees and pensioners.”

“How did we not know about them? What are we going to do about it?”

“Calm down, Bruce Wayne. We’ll get them in due course.”
