“We will if I have any say in the matter. I probably shouldn’t say this because it’s too fucking soon, and I know it, but I need you to know just how important you are to me. I already know you’re it for me, Dre King. You’re so far under my skin, and I wouldn’t change a thing. Finding you is the best thing that ever happened to me.”

“You can’t be saying things like that when I can’t fucking climb you like a tree because my daughter is here.”

“Soon. Once we have everything we need to taken care of, we’re taking time for just you and I. I’m sure we’ll have lots of volunteers for babysitters.”

“Come on. Give me this tour. We need to stop having this conversation for now; I don’t need any hard-on when your brothers show their faces again.”

“Good point. Come on then, let me show you your new home.”

Chapter Nineteen

Dre

The closer we get to The Devil’s Inferno Compound, the more fidgety I can feel myself becoming. I can’t seem to sit still. My legs are constantly bouncing, and I must have shifted from side to side on the seat a hundred times now. My apprehension for what is about to happen is increasing constantly. I know Rex can sense my unease; the way he keeps glancing at me from the corner of his eye every few seconds makes that obvious to me. I can’t help the anxiety I’m feeling, though. I know that as soon as I tell Wreck everything that happened to me, our reunion is going to take a turn. He’s going to lose his shit. Not at me, no. He’d never lose his shit at me. It’ll be at the situation in general. He’s going to beat himself up because he didn’t know the people responsible for our existence weren’t actually dead. That he didn’t know they were still a threat to us. Well, mainly me. They’ve always been a bigger threat to me than Wreck.

Do I think anything he’s going to think is logical? Not in the slightest. But I know my brother. He’s going to blame himself, even though there is no way he could have known that they were still alive and kicking. For the love of all, The Khaos Group didn’t even know, and they have the best resources on the fuckingplanet. There’s no way Wreck could have been any the wiser. Somehow I’m going to have to make him realize that. I don’t have a clue how, but I’m sure I’ll come up with something. If not, hopefully Shadow will be able to give me a hand. He’s the Wreck whisperer after all.

“I know you’re worried, but I’ll be there every step of the way to support you. If it will help, you can tell him once we have Beau and Annmarie moved to The Holding Facility, he’s more than welcome to come and have a come-to-Jesus moment with them.”

“That might actually be really helpful. Maybe if he can take some of his rage and fury out on them, it will help him process everything.”

“We can play it by ear, sweetness. Just remember the option is there. Are you ready for this? We’re coming up to The Compound Gates now. Jake said it would more than likely be a member you’ll recognize working them. They’re down to only one Prospect nowadays with Jake being patched in, so everyone is pitching in on working gate security.”

“I’m as ready as I’ll ever be.” I reply, blowing out a breath. Attempting to calm myself a little bit.

As Rex pulls up outside The Compound’s Gate, I catch sight of who’s working and have to smile. Jake was right; it is someone I recognize. There’s no mistaking that blue hair for anyone else. I wasn’t expecting to see him working the gate; he’s one of the MC’s officers, and I know it’s not often they have time to do things like working on the gate. I’m certainly not going to complain about the fact that it’s Ink who I’m going to have to speak to, though. After Shadow, he’s probably the member I know next best because of the amount of time he’s spent under my brother’s needle. All the artwork that covers his body was done by none other than Wreck, and considering he’s covered from head to toe, he’s spent a hell of a lot of time with mybrother. There have been many times when I’ve been on a video call with Wreck and he’s been working away on a new piece for Ink.

I know the moment Ink spots me in the passenger seat of Rex’s car. Recognition sparks in his unique gray eyes, and a blinding smile breaks across his face. Rex doesn’t even have to stop outside the gates, Ink already having them open for us to pass through.

“You want to stop and talk to him?” Rex asks as he starts to pass through the gates.

“Yeah, for a minute.”

“Okay, I’ll pull over to the side.”

Rex does just that, pulling his car over to the side and parking up so that I can get out and greet Ink. Just like Flash, Ink immediately engulfs me in a hug. I can definitely say it’s a nice feeling knowing these men are relieved that I’m safe and sound. That’s what each one of these hugs is. These men may be some of the toughest men I know, but they also all have freaking hearts of gold.

“It’s good to see you. I take it you’re on your way to see Wreck.” Ink says as he pulls back.

“Yeah. You might want to let everyone know he’s probably going to need to work off some volatile emotions in a bit.”

“That bad?” Ink asks.

“Yeah. He’s not going to like anything I have to tell him.”

“I’ll sort something out with the guys to give him an outlet. Let me know if you need anything else.”

“Thank you, Ink. Hopefully having Shadow there will be enough to stop him from totally going off the deep end.”

“It should be. You know how good they are at helping each other cope. That hasn’t changed now they’re a couple. If anything, they’re even more in tune with each other. That was something I didn’t think was possible, but here we are.”

“I don’t suppose you know where they are? That’s something I didn’t think to check before we headed over here.”

“They’re over at their house. Do you know where that is, Rex?”

“Yeah, I do. Jake told me the general direction I’d need to go if they weren’t in The Clubhouse.”

“Go and see your brother Dre. It’s really good to see you.”
