Now I fucking wasn't expecting that. What the hell does the Police Chief have to do with what's going on?

“Call emergency Church now. Everyone needs to be here within the next ten minutes. This is priority number one. Don't tell anyone except the other Officers what's happened.”I say as I turn and leave, pulling out my phone as I go.

Scrolling to my Dad's contact page, I click call.

“Hey, son.” He says when he answers

“Hey Dad, I don't know how to tell you this, so I'm just going to spit it out. Both Wrath and Flame have been run off the road and taken. I need you here as quickly as possible. You’re the only one I trust with Cam's safety. He's going to need you.”

“I'm on my way. I'll make sure Cam is okay. Find and get them back, Shadow. Do whatever it takes. You're in charge until we get your brother back.”

Dad hangs up. Leaning against the wall, I take deep breaths, trying to get myself under control. How the fuck are we meant to get them out of the fucking Police Chief's housewithout getting arrested? God, I need a fucking miracle, and I need it now.

Walking into the room where we hold Church, I don't take my normal seat; I take Wrath's. I never wanted to ever have to sit here; this is my brother's spot, not mine. I can see the worried looks on everyone's faces as they enter and take notice of where I'm sitting. It immediately tells everyone something's seriously wrong.

Once everyone's filed into the room, I bang the gavel and start talking.

“In the last thirty minutes, Wrath and Flame were run off the road and taken. Tech's tracked the truck to where it took them. They’re being held at the Police Chief’s mansion on the edge of town. Now I need you all to be fucking ready because, as soon as we have a plan, we’re going to get them back. Is that understood?”I say loudly.

“You're not going, Shadow,”Eagle says, and the entire room goes silent.

My eyes must show how furious I am at what he's just said. That's my fucking brother. I'm not going to fucking sit here and let everyone else rescue him.

He holds his hand up and shakes his head.

“You can't go, Shadow. You’re the missing piece. She wants all three of you. You’re going to stay here and stay safe, with Blade and Wreck acting as your bodyguards just in case someone tries to get to you. This is the one thing I can override you on. You need to be safe, Shadow. I'm not going to risk giving her exactly what she wants. The minute she gets her hands on you, you're all dead. We know she won't kill Wrath and Flame until she's got you.”I just nod my head and let Eagle continue. He's right; I know he is.

It’s his show now. Whether I like it or not, I have to stay here.

“We’ll be splitting into teams; I'll be leading Team One, Piston Team Two, Ink Team Three, and Rock Team Four. I don’t care who's on whose team, as long as there are even numbers for each. We’re going to have to get on the property undetected, then enter and find our guys. That’s the only goal here. Don’t go looking for anyone to take prisoner; just fucking find them and get out. We don’t need the fucking law on our backs either, so we all go with face coverings and without our Devil's Inferno colors. Sniper, you’re the only one not going on a team. Go to the location, find yourself an overwatch position, and report back any movement you can see. You're our backup. We’ll be going in and getting them within the next two hours. I don't want to risk leaving them there longer than that.”

Everyone nods their heads in agreement with what Eagle has said, so I bang the gavel down, stand up, and leave. I need a fucking shot to settle my nerves.

Walking into the Common Room, I see my Dad sitting with Cam, who's crying. Dad has obviously told him what happened. God, I feel for him; he's got to be fucking terrified. Walking up to the bar, I nod towards the spirits on the wall. I don't care what the Prospect pours; I just need a goddamn shot. After taking my shot, I turn and walk over to my Dad and Cam, giving them both quick hugs before I sit down.

“What is the plan?”Dad asks me. His voice doesn't betray how he feels; he sounds as steady as a rock.

“They're going in within the next two hours; their only focus is getting them and getting out with them being held inside the Police Chief’s house. We can't risk anything else. I'm staying here with Wreck and Blade acting as my bodyguards, as I'm the missing piece she wants, and we don't want to give her the chance to grab me.”I tell my Dad and Cam.

“It sounds like a solid plan to me,”Dad says with a nod.

“D-Do you think they're okay?”Cam asks me in a small voice that I haven't heard him use since the first week he was here.

“Yes, I truly believe they are Cam. They're strong, and they’re fighting to come home to you. Just remember that, okay?"I tell him, then drop a quick kiss on his head.

Poor kid; he can't catch a break.

Chapter Thirty-Six

Wrath

One minute, Flame's talking to me, and the next, he passed out. I have tried everything possible to get out of this fucking chair and get to him. I refuse to believe I'm going to sit here and watch my husband die on the first fucking day we're married. That's not going to fucking happen; I refuse to believe that.

I hear a noise, and then the door opens, and I'm totally taken by surprise when the goddamn Police Chief walks in the room. What the actual fuck?

“Hello, Wrath.”He says while walking towards me.

“What the fuck is going on!?”I shout at him while still trying to get loose.
